This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Offers direct support for initiatives focused on child, adolescent, and school health.
• Provides technical guidance to multi-sector jurisdictional teams on practices that are evidence-based and evidence-informed.
• Supports the LEAHP+ Community of Practice along with projects related to child and adolescent health and various cross-cutting issues.
• Assists the Director of Family and Child Health in maintaining coordinated engagement and follow-up on federally funded initiatives.
• Aids in the creation of reports, issue briefs, blogs, podcasts, newsletters, PowerPoint presentations, and webinars.
• Contributes to the design and development of both virtual and in-person meetings.
• Conducts, analyzes, and summarizes online research and original data collection with states and territories.
• Collaborates with ASTHO on maternal and child health topics.
• Responds to requests for assistance and information from members, affiliates, and national organizations.
• Engages in the evaluation of project activities, outcomes, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Establishes and maintains strategic relationships with national partners.
• Aids in the formulation of project proposals and concept papers.
• Represents ASTHO on national advisory committees as well as at meetings and conferences.
• Identifies opportunities for internal and external collaboration through meetings, workgroups, and committees.
• Preferred qualifications include an MPH or a related degree.
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.
• Desirable knowledge of state or local public health, particularly maternal and child health focusing on child and adolescent health.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Strong interpersonal abilities necessary for effective collaboration with diverse colleagues, funders, and state and federal officials.
• Capability to work independently and within a team, manage multiple projects, and complete assigned tasks punctually.
• Ability to communicate tactfully and diplomatically with both public and internal contacts.
• Knowledge of public health systems change at local, state, or federal levels is desirable.
• Proficient in developing project outcome measures, tracking progress, and evaluating results.
• Skill in effectively translating and disseminating information to various groups and audiences.
• Ability to navigate large networks and represent ASTHO at meetings and conferences on public health-related matters.
