AI/ML Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.

📋 Description

• Report directly to the Director of AI/ML.

• Recruit and establish the ML team; set the technical standards, manage technical evaluations, and make hiring choices.

• Foster employee development through organized 1:1 meetings, honest feedback, and investment in career growth.

• Oversee performance management and collaborate with HRBPs and the Director of AI/ML as necessary.

• Track staffing levels, utilization rates, skill development, and engagement assignments.

• Lead comprehensive ML assessments that encompass infrastructure, data pipelines, model lifecycle, and organizational readiness.

• Generate recommendations that influence executive decisions and future projects.

• Act as a senior technical authority, shaping architecture, establishing technical direction, and ensuring quality standards.

• Provide guidance to clients on sustainable MLOps, LLMOps, and standards for production monitoring.

• Collaborate with sales and solutions teams on project scoping and proposals.

• Manage customer interactions from project initiation through to delivery.

• Resolve complex technical issues for teams and uphold Caylent's quality standards.

• Take ownership of architect-level client outcomes or offer senior technical oversight.

• Mentor engineers and architects, participate in technical interviews, and develop reference architectures and ML accelerators.

• May require travel of up to 25% based on business requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in machine learning or AI, with a solid history of leading client-facing engagements in a consulting or advisory role.

• Proven experience in people management, including hiring, performance calibration, career development, and the capability to handle challenging conversations directly and constructively.

• Extensive and up-to-date knowledge of the AWS ML and GenAI ecosystem.

• Ability to make and justify architectural decisions throughout the entire ML lifecycle, from data and feature engineering to training, deployment, and monitoring.

• In-depth expertise in at least two or three ML domains, including classical ML, computer vision, NLP, or time series.

• Demonstrated capability to architect and govern production ML systems comprehensively.

• Experience with MLOps, LLMOps, and broader AI operational practices.

• Advanced knowledge in foundation model adaptation: fine-tuning (LoRA, QLoRA, PEFT), alignment (RLHF, DPO), inference optimization, and distributed training.

• Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and agentic system design, including multi-agent architectures, MCP integration, and human-in-the-loop methodologies on AWS.

• Proven ability to work independently within complex, ambiguous customer environments.

• AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty and/or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional is a strong differentiator.

• Experience in shaping practice-level standards, reference architectures, and reusable ML accelerators is a strong differentiator.

• Exposure to a variety of industries and problem types in a consulting or client-facing capacity is a strong differentiator.

• Proficiency in responsible AI practices, including model evaluation, bias detection, fairness frameworks, and AI governance is a strong differentiator.

• Understanding of AIOps patterns is a strong differentiator.

• Must have current legal authorization to work in Argentina; Caylent is unable to sponsor visa or work permit applications.
