AI/ML Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in the effective integration of artificial intelligence into educational and operational business processes.

• Conceive, develop, test, and implement AI-driven solutions and process automations.

• Conduct assessments to determine AI readiness for proposed use cases.

• Execute feasibility, benefit, risk, and implementation analyses utilizing standardized evaluation frameworks.

• Analyze potential AI use cases based on mission significance, data readiness, technical complexity, security, governance, and expected returns.

• Create technical supplements to enterprise AI governance frameworks, including criteria for tool evaluation, model monitoring protocols, risk and control requirements, incident response procedures, and mechanisms for human oversight.

• Design and implement AI-enabled business process automations using Power Automate, Power Apps, Copilot Studio, or similar platforms.

• Develop AI-enabled solutions through the phases of intake, requirements assessment, solution design, prototyping, testing, validation, security and governance review, deployment, and post-deployment monitoring.

• Construct and maintain AI agents and workflows enabled by agents.

• Create intelligent document processing features for classification, extraction, summarization, routing, and other relevant use cases.

• Integrate AI functionalities with enterprise applications, data platforms, APIs, and workflow systems.

• Establish and manage automated workflows that incorporate AI or machine learning components.

• Assist in the evaluation of AI tools, pilot projects, and proof-of-concept initiatives.

• Develop evaluation criteria, test plans, success metrics, and recommendations for AI pilot programs.

• Assess emerging AI, machine learning, generative AI, and large language model platforms.

• Evaluate AI/LLM platforms developed by the Department of Defense, provided by the Government, and commercially acquired options.

• Assist with procurement readiness for AI tools.

• Develop AI-enabled analytics capabilities such as predictive modeling, forecasting, natural-language querying, classification, anomaly detection, and decision support.

• Support semantic models and AI-ready data products within enterprise Lakehouse environments.

• Create Python-based AI/ML prototypes, integrations, evaluations, and automation components.

• Aid in testing for accuracy, performance, reliability, bias, robustness, and operational suitability.

• Establish metrics for model performance and monitoring processes.

• Assist in the identification, triage, documentation, and response to AI-related incidents or unexpected model behaviors.

• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, governance teams, cybersecurity teams, and application developers.

• Translate stakeholder requirements into AI use cases, technical specifications, solution designs, and acceptance criteria.

• Support stakeholder engagement, demonstrations, workshops, training, adoption, and change management efforts.

• Produce technical documentation, implementation guides, evaluation reports, and user-facing materials.

• Ensure that AI solutions conform to organizational AI strategies, guidelines, security requirements, and principles of responsible AI.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in designing, developing, evaluating, or implementing AI/ML solutions.

• Familiarity with responsible AI frameworks, governance, or risk-management practices.

• Experience with Power Automate, Copilot Studio, or similar AI and workflow automation platforms.

• Proficiency in Python.

• Experience in integrating AI-enabled capabilities with APIs, data sources, and enterprise applications.

• Background in evaluating, piloting, or deploying AI, machine learning, generative AI, or LLM-based tools within organizational contexts.

• Understanding of the AI/ML solution lifecycle, from requirements gathering to monitoring and maintenance.

• Experience in developing prototypes, proofs of concept, or production AI-enabled applications.

• Familiarity with model evaluation, performance measurement, and monitoring methodologies.

• Ability to assess the technical feasibility, business value, implementation complexity, and risks associated with AI use cases.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation abilities.

• Experience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Capacity to convert operational needs into actionable AI-enabled solutions.

• Active Secret clearance.

• Preferred: Familiarity with the Department of Defense Responsible AI Strategy and associated DoD AI guidelines.

• Preferred: Experience in creating or implementing AI governance frameworks.

• Preferred: Experience with generative AI and large language models.

• Preferred: Experience in building AI agents or agentic workflows.

• Preferred: Experience with retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, semantic search, or vector databases.

• Preferred: Experience developing intelligent document processing solutions.

• Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure AI, Azure OpenAI, or related Microsoft cloud AI services.

• Preferred: Experience with Power Platform technologies, including Power Apps and Power Automate.

• Preferred: Experience in developing predictive analytics, forecasting, or natural-language analytics capabilities.

• Preferred: Experience with model evaluation frameworks, guardrails, human-in-the-loop controls, or AI observability.

• Preferred: Experience in evaluating AI tools for security, privacy, reliability, bias, and organizational fit.

• Preferred: Experience supporting AI procurement, technology selection, or pilot programs.

• Preferred: Familiarity with AI capabilities within enterprise Lakehouse or semantic-model architectures.

• Preferred: Experience within the Department of Defense, federal, or educational environments.
