This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more country.
• Create, develop, and maintain scalable services that support U.S. marketplace workflows such as Buy Now, 45M, Simulcast, and DealerBlock.
• Build APIs and backend services on a state-of-the-art, cloud-native, AI-integrated platform.
• Incorporate AI-driven functionalities into marketplace features, including pricing algorithms, negotiation processes, and workflow automation.
• Utilize AI tools to enhance coding, testing, debugging, and documentation while exercising strong engineering judgment.
• Collaborate with Product to convert business requirements into sustainable, scalable technical solutions.
• Engage in on-call rotations and provide support for live production systems.
• Enhance system reliability, performance, security, and observability.
• Contribute to the technical vision, engineering standards, and long-term evolution of the platform.
• Work closely with Product Managers, Data Engineers, Infrastructure, and Site Reliability Engineering teams on a daily basis.
• Report directly to an Engineering Manager.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in building and maintaining production software systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience in developing and supporting production software systems.
• Proficient in backend development using languages such as Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, .NET, Ruby, or similar.
• Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-native architecture.
• Comfortable operating within modern CI/CD environments.
• Experience with observability, monitoring, and incident response practices.
• Capable of owning features and systems from inception to completion.
• Actively utilize AI development tools such as code copilots, AI debuggers, and test generators.
• Eager to explore the application of AI to real-world customer and business challenges.
• Ability to critically assess AI outputs rather than accepting them unconditionally.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a rapidly evolving tool landscape.
• Frontend experience with React and TypeScript is an advantage.
• Familiarity with AWS or comparable cloud platforms is a plus.
• Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures is beneficial.
• Knowledge of SQL and data-driven applications is advantageous.
• Experience in marketplace, e-commerce, or high-volume transaction systems is a plus.
• Background in reliability engineering or SRE is a plus.
• Experience in modernizing or migrating legacy systems is a plus.
