AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Italy.

📋 Description

• Directly report to the Head of AI

• Develop AI products to assist clients in managing their businesses more effectively

• Collaborate daily with data, engineering, infrastructure, product, and design teams

• Utilize financial and accounting data to address clients' real-world problems

• Conduct discovery, domain understanding, and experimentation

• Design and implement AI systems in production

• Define and manage evaluations, metrics, test datasets, and quality, cost, and latency monitoring

• Continuously iterate on existing AI products and select the most suitable approach

• Introduce re-ranking in the automatic reconciliation algorithm

• Build systems for knowledge management, retrieval, memory, and tool use for AI agents

• Oversee training and evaluations of a language model for Italian banking transactions

⛳️ Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or another STEM field

• Strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, probability, and machine learning

• Proven experience and success in building and deploying AI-based applications used by thousands of users

• Knowledge of linear models, linear algebra, neural networks, and backpropagation

• Proficiency in modern Python, Git, Docker, CI/CD, unit testing, and evaluations

• Familiarity with the APIs of major model providers and ecosystem frameworks

• End-to-end ownership mindset

• Ability to build data pipelines, write ETL batch processes, and code in Elixir or TypeScript when necessary

• Fluent in both Italian and English

• Bonus point: at least 4-5 years of experience in software or ML, with some experience in production AI systems

• Bonus point: mentoring and coaching experience with junior colleagues

• Excellent analytical skills and great attention to detail
