This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Direct the design, development, and execution of AI, Generative AI, Machine Learning, and intelligent automation solutions for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
• Discover high-value AI opportunities in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Create proof-of-concepts and deliver secure, scalable, production-ready AI solutions that adhere to VA AI governance and Trustworthy AI principles.
• Architect and develop AI-powered applications utilizing LLMs, Generative AI, and Machine Learning.
• Develop AI Copilots, AI Agents, and RAG solutions to streamline software engineering, testing, documentation, and operational workflows.
• Design intelligent automation for test case creation, defect analysis, knowledge management, predictive analytics, and process improvement.
• Incorporate AI capabilities into enterprise applications, REST APIs, Azure cloud services, and DevSecOps pipelines.
• Assess emerging AI technologies and swiftly create proof-of-concepts.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, testers, and business stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to VA cybersecurity, privacy, accessibility, and Trustworthy AI standards.
• Juggle multiple tasks and deadlines, delivering high-quality outputs punctually.
• Educate colleagues on brand standards, ensuring that visual communications align with organizational identity.
• Utilize PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, and Visio to automate and improve design processes.
• Conduct technical quality assurance reviews on presentations and documentation.
• Develop and maintain templates and documentation styles for PowerPoints, diagrams, and technical publications.
• Work with subject matter experts on user guides, process documentation, templates, and presentations.
• Analyze team presentations and document all process aspects.
• Create, edit, and manage training materials, brown bags, and instructional aids.
• Review and refresh documentation and training materials.
• Provide exceptional customer service by embracing the customer’s mission and striving for success.
• Collaborate with AI to enhance these functions.
• U.S. Citizenship is required for eligibility for VA contracts.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in developing AI, Machine Learning, or Generative AI solutions.
• Proficient programming skills in Python.
• Experience with Azure OpenAI, OpenAI APIs, or similar LLM platforms.
• Familiarity with LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or similar AI frameworks.
• Proven experience in building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) applications and AI Agents.
• Experience in developing REST APIs using FastAPI or similar frameworks.
• Knowledge of Git, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, Docker, and cloud-native development.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with Azure AI Studio, Azure Machine Learning, vector databases, and prompt engineering.
• Understanding of the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, Responsible AI, and Federal AI governance.
• Preferred: experience supporting the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or other Federal agencies.
• Preferred: experience with healthcare IT, EHRM, VistA, Oracle Health Millennium, FHIR, or HL7.
• Having a current Moderate Background Investigation (MBI) and VA network access is a plus.
