This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia.
• Design, develop, and implement advanced AI and machine learning models for intricate, mission-critical challenges.
• Fine-tune large language models, construct computer vision systems, and integrate multimodal AI solutions.
• Work with real-world datasets while implementing and optimizing models in Python utilizing PyTorch, TensorFlow, and LangChain.
• Collaborate with AI researchers and software engineers in an agile development setting.
• Design and create AI and software systems that classify and assess human states using multimodal sensor techniques.
• Utilize data mining, statistical analysis, machine learning, computational modeling, and digital signal processing methodologies.
• Implement, test, and apply mathematical algorithms derived from research.
• Design and execute the scientific and technical components of projects and proposals.
• Lead technical tasks within projects and proposals, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work.
• Contribute to technical reports, proposals, presentations, and published works.
• Support senior personnel through proposals, capabilities briefs, software or meeting materials, software integration and installation, and client meetings.
• Engage in ongoing professional education and conduct background research aligned with project needs.
• Present findings at professional conferences and in scholarly publications.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of pertinent work experience.
• Proven technical and leadership capabilities to meet this level of requirements.
• General comprehension of various technical domains relevant to Aptima, with a primary specialty that integrates with other fields.
• Capacity to apply engineering technical skills, principles, and heuristics to create high-quality, customer-focused, contractually compliant, and timely plans and products.
• Moderate proficiency in software development practices pertaining to ML/AI workflows.
• Experience in object-oriented programming, such as Python, Java, or C#.
• Experience in modular code design.
• Ability to transition exploratory notebooks into maintainable, production-ready packages.
• Foundational understanding of machine learning techniques, including deep learning, feature extraction, and embedding application.
• Experience in building computational models from large datasets.
• Familiarity with NLP, LLMs, agentic workflows, or computer vision is advantageous.
• Professional development through conferences, reading, and project-related background work.
• Opportunities to present work at professional conferences and in professional publications.
