AI-enabled Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the monthly closing process from initiation to completion utilizing the internally developed application.

• Oversee daily bookkeeping tasks in QuickBooks Online, which includes reconciling bank and credit card accounts, maintaining the chart of accounts, and applying deposits to invoices.

• Upload and assess monthly source files, such as Carta reports, invoices from benefits carriers, and payroll allocations.

• Review and authorize proposed journal entries prior to posting them in QuickBooks Online.

• Maintain supporting documentation and balanced sheet schedules.

• Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements, encompassing the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.

• Provide commentary on monthly variance and flux analysis.

• Assist with quarterly investor reporting.

• Lead the external audit process and act as the main point of contact for auditors.

• Prepare audit PBC schedules and supporting documents, and address auditor inquiries.

• Monitor daily cash balances and maintain an ongoing cash flow forecast.

• Communicate any potential cash shortfalls and liquidity issues to the COO.

• Manage vendor payments, approve bills, schedule payments through Bill.com, and fulfill vendor onboarding requirements.

• Aid in accounts receivable collections through aging reviews and payment reminders.

• Handle invoice factoring activities and reconcile related transactions.

• Maintain schedules for prepaids, prepaid commissions, accruals, notes payable, stock-based compensation, and other balance sheet accounts.

• Utilize Claude to enhance and automate accounting workflows.

• Sustain and advance existing Claude skills while developing new reusable skills and workflows.

• Assess manual processes for potential automation opportunities.

• Convert accounting requirements into specifications for internal developers and validate the implemented solutions.

• Ensure accounting procedures and documentation are current.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on accounting experience, including full ownership of the monthly closing process.

• In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, including accruals, prepaids, revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, and notes payable.

• Proven experience in preparing monthly financial statements and supporting external audits.

• Practical daily experience utilizing Claude or a similar AI tool for accounting or financial workflows, with demonstrable application examples.

• Experience in creating at least one reusable Claude skill, project instruction set, or structured prompt workflow for others to follow.

• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and spreadsheet applications.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a meticulous and critical approach to validating AI-generated outputs.

• Capability to explain and validate financial figures and identify discrepancies before they escalate into reporting issues.

• Excellent written communication skills and the ability to clearly document accounting procedures.

• CPA certification or actively pursuing CPA licensure is preferred.

• Familiarity with invoice factoring or other receivables financing arrangements is advantageous.

• Experience in ad-tech, media, or marketplace revenue accounting is considered a plus.

• Basic knowledge of SQL and experience in querying financial data in BigQuery is beneficial.

• Familiarity with Claude Code, MCP connectors, or no-code automation platforms like Make or Zapier is a plus.

• Prior experience as the first or only accountant at a startup is a plus.
