📋 Description

• Develop initial rating frameworks and pricing models for new insurance programs.

• Analyze expected loss ratios, commission structures, fronting costs, and profitability across various scenarios.

• Confirm rating logic in production systems prior to launch.

• Generate ongoing reports on loss ratios, frequency, severity, and trends for program evaluations.

• Create and sustain performance dashboards for Underwriting and leadership teams.

• Examine emerging trends and adverse developments, providing actionable recommendations.

• Prepare loss data, exhibits, and experience analyses for carrier submissions, renewal proposals, and reinsurance placements.

• Assist with bordereaux accuracy, delegated authority reporting, and carrier audit inquiries.

• Develop and maintain rate indications, loss cost models, and rate level analyses.

• Aid in segmentation and risk selection analysis while suggesting rate responses.

• Conduct competitive and market analysis to evaluate pricing adequacy and positioning.

• Prepare rate, rule, and form filing exhibits along with supporting actuarial documentation, addressing any regulator objections.

• Offer analytical support for underwriting referrals, account-level pricing queries, and appetite determinations.

• Contribute to the maintenance and refinement of underwriting guidelines using data insights.

• Collaborate with Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Product, and Engineering teams.

• Automate recurring analyses and integrate AI where it enhances efficiency.


⛳️ Requirements

• ACAS, FCAS, or equivalent qualifications.

• A minimum of 4 years of P&C actuarial experience, preferably in personal or commercial auto, specialty, or program business.

• Solid technical foundation in ratemaking, loss reserving, and trend analysis.

• Advanced skills in Excel.

• Proficient in SQL and familiarity with at least one programming language such as Python or R.

• Experience in creating reports or dashboards using a BI tool like Tableau, Looker, or Power BI.

• Comfortable working with imperfect, incomplete, or newly generated data and effectively communicating any resulting uncertainties.

• Ability to articulate analyses clearly to underwriters, executives, and carrier partners who are not actuaries.

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related quantitative discipline.

• Genuine curiosity about numerical changes and determination to investigate them.

• Preference for automating repetitive tasks.

• Strong attention to detail with good judgment regarding precision versus speed.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and limited precedents.

• Collaborative approach when working with underwriters and claims adjusters.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize complex analyses succinctly.
