Accounts Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Prepare year-end accounts files for a diverse portfolio of clients.

• Analyze trial balances and related schedules to generate financial statements.

• Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.

• Develop and maintain working papers along with supporting documentation.

• Process year-end journals and perform adjustments as necessary.

• Assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements.

• Ensure that accounts files are comprehensive, accurate, and prepared within the agreed deadlines.

• Address queries that arise during the accounts preparation process.

• Escalate complex or unusual accounting issues to a Senior or Manager.

• Collaborate with Managers and Seniors from the UK team.

• Communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.

• Request and follow up on necessary information to finalize accounts files.

• Maintain precise records and ensure that work is completed to a high standard.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical experience in a role focused on accounts preparation.

• Significant experience in preparing year-end accounts files.

• Strong understanding of financial statements and accounting principles.

• Experience in completing reconciliations and supporting schedules.

• Proficient in using commercial accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks Online, or similar applications.

• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

• Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Ability to work independently in a remote setting.

• AGA(SA) or an equivalent accounting qualification is a plus.

• Part-qualified candidates or those with relevant practical accounts experience will also be considered.

• CA(SA) qualification is not mandatory.

• Experience in preparing accounts for UK clients is preferred.

• Knowledge of UK accounting standards, including FRS 102, is advantageous.

• Familiarity with UK practice software such as IRIS or CCH is desirable.

• Experience in a cloud-based accounting environment is a plus.

• Audit experience is not a requirement.
