This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee, mentor, and guide a team of Staff and Senior Accountants, encompassing goal setting, performance evaluations, workflow prioritization, training initiatives, and career development assistance.
• Direct the timely and precise month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and the review of supporting documentation.
• Implement U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies in complex or judgmental accounting areas; escalate technical issues and assist in documenting conclusions for management and auditors.
• Enhance closing discipline by tracking deadlines, reviewing workpapers for thoroughness and accuracy, and ensuring that reconciling items are investigated, resolved, and well-documented.
• Facilitate public company reporting obligations by preparing and reviewing schedules, flux analysis, audit support, and documentation necessary for quarterly and annual financial reporting cycles.
• Collaborate with FP&A, Operations, Payroll, Procurement, Revenue Cycle, IT, and other cross-functional teams to clarify variances, resolve accounting challenges, and elevate the quality of financial data.
• Develop, implement, and continuously refine SOX-compliant controls, which include control evidence, review accuracy, segregation of duties, remediation support, and audit-ready documentation.
• Work closely with internal and external auditors by managing requests, preparing PBC schedules, addressing inquiries, and ensuring audit support is complete, accurate, and timely.
• Evaluate current processes and suggest enhancements that boost efficiency, scalability, accuracy, and control effectiveness, including automation, standardization, and clearer accountability.
• Analyze accounting data and key closing metrics to detect anomalies, recurring problems, process gaps, or training requirements; convert findings into actionable plans.
• Compile and review financial reports, account analyses, and management-ready explanations that effectively communicate drivers, risks, and recommended next steps.
• Ensure the appropriate maintenance, filing, and retention of accounting records, policies, reconciliations, control evidence, and audit support in line with company standards.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA or progress toward CPA is highly preferred.
• A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in accounting, auditing, or financial reporting, including at least 2 years of managing, supervising, or formally reviewing accounting work.
• Experience in public company accounting, SEC reporting support, or Big Four/public accounting audit is strongly preferred; familiarity with public company audit standards and documentation expectations is highly beneficial.
• In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP, month-end close processes, account reconciliations, accrual accounting, financial statement support, and balance sheet review practices.
• Proven experience in a SOX-compliant or similarly controlled environment, encompassing control execution, evidence preparation, control review, and follow-through on remediation.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas, data validation, and structured analysis of extensive data sets.
• Proficient with NetSuite or another large ERP system; ability to quickly learn new systems and collaborate with IT or systems teams to enhance reporting and workflows.
• Capable of reviewing workpapers and reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy, identifying root causes, and mentoring team members on enhancing quality and documentation.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain accounting concepts to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, sound judgment, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
