This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Oversee all elements of donor management throughout the workup process.
• Evaluate the emotional well-being, needs, concerns, and the impact of donation on donors and their families.
• Organize and facilitate donor information sessions.
• Supervise physical examinations, medical clearance, donor suitability, and eligibility assessments.
• Coordinate activities related to blood stem cell and marrow donations, blood sample collections, autologous blood collections, prescriptions, and infectious disease marker samples.
• Communicate case developments with Case Managers and donors.
• Complete necessary documentation, case forms, and paperwork within specified timelines.
• Establish and collaborate with third-party physical examination sites and external agencies administering filgrastim.
• Reach out to donors at designated intervals to evaluate recovery, arrange blood samples, and assess the need for physician intervention.
• Eliminate donation obstacles, resolve issues, conduct contingency planning, and manage adverse events.
• Keep accurate documentation and records in compliance with NMDP policies and requirements.
• Facilitate communication and information exchange between donors and recipients while ensuring confidentiality.
• Carry out workup and collection activities under Investigational New Drug or research protocols.
• Train third-party providers conducting protocol activities when necessary.
• Implement continuous process improvement strategies and systems.
• Attend NMDP meetings and training sessions; some travel may be necessary.
• Maintain up-to-date operational and industry knowledge.
• Adhere to SOPs, NMDP standards, CFR, FDA guidance, OSHA guidelines, and relevant laws.
• Collaborate with team members to provide optimal donor experiences and meet the expectations of transplant centers and patients.
• Engage in shared team responsibilities, provide staff backup, participate in NMDP project teams, and fulfill other assigned duties.
• Conduct core duties in Spanish, customize messaging for Spanish-speaking populations, and offer bilingual subject-matter expertise, translation support, proofreading, and donor-call assistance.
• Flexibility to adjust working hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
• Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
• Intermediate proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
• Ability to accurately and efficiently fill out sensitive data forms.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills for engaging with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
• Advanced written and oral communication skills for discussing sensitive topics.
• Strong customer service skills, with active listening and empathy.
• Capability to learn medical terminology and relay complex medical concepts clearly.
• Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field, or equivalent education and/or experience substitution.
• Three years of experience interacting with patients, clients, or customers in a healthcare, nonprofit, or business environment.
• Availability for occasional overnight travel, up to two nights per year.
• Fluency in Spanish beyond conversational level, including the ability to convey complex medical information and advanced oral and written communication.
• Understanding of Spanish grammar.
• Familiarity with Spanish-speaking cultures.
• Preferred: knowledge of medical terminology, case-note documentation, and medical histories.
• Preferred: experience in patient interaction or care within a healthcare setting.
• Preferred: experience in regulated environments and awareness of GTP, GMP, and GDP.
