This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Oversee the complete lifecycle of workers’ compensation claims, from the initial injury report to the final claim closure.
• Ensure that workplace injuries are reported promptly and accurately to insurance carriers, third-party administrators (TPAs), and regulatory bodies.
• Maintain thorough and confidential records and documentation related to claims.
• Monitor the status of claims and consistently follow up with insurance adjusters and medical providers.
• Act as the main point of contact for employees who have been injured regarding their workers’ compensation claims.
• Provide education to employees and managers about workers’ compensation processes, benefits, and their associated responsibilities.
• Facilitate communication among employees, supervisors, healthcare providers, insurance carriers, and legal representatives.
• Manage and administer leave of absence related to workers’ compensation, as well as return-to-work and modified-duty programs.
• Review work restrictions and work collaboratively with management to identify suitable accommodations.
• Track the recovery progress of employees and assist in their successful reintegration into the workplace.
• Ensure adherence to all relevant federal, state, and local workers’ compensation laws and regulations.
• Monitor OSHA recordkeeping mandates and assist with the reporting and documentation of injuries.
• Prepare and disseminate workers’ compensation reports, claim summaries, and trend analyses.
• Collaborate with insurance carriers, TPAs, medical providers, and legal counsel to ensure effective management of claims.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Occupational Health, Risk Management, or a related field is preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be taken into account.
• 0–3 years of experience in managing workers’ compensation claims, leave administration, or risk management programs is required.
• Experience with insurance carriers, TPAs, and return-to-work programs is essential.
• Experience with multi-state workers’ compensation is preferred.
• Strong understanding of workers’ compensation laws, regulations, and claim management practices is necessary.
• Familiarity with OSHA reporting and workplace safety principles is important.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills are required.
• Strong organizational skills and time-management abilities are essential.
• Capability to manage multiple claims and priorities simultaneously is a must.
• Proficiency in HRIS systems, claims management software, and the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sound judgment is critical.
• Associate in Claims (AIC) certification is preferred.
• Certified Workers’ Compensation Professional (CWCP) designation is preferred.
• Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM-CP certification is a plus.
• Occupational Safety certifications are advantageous.
