Wind Hub Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Fulfill contractual responsibilities in alignment with customer specifications as well as daily site and hub operations.

• Conduct maintenance, repairs, and replacement of components on electrical and mechanical systems used in GE wind turbine generators.

• Diagnose intricate mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on variable-pitch and variable-speed turbines.

• Assist in all facets of site operations as instructed by management, ensuring adherence to safety protocols with minimal oversight.

• Carry out diagnostic electrical assessments.

• Record all activities performed using computer-based service reporting systems.

• Collaborate with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when required.

• Engage and communicate with the Site Lead and Manager to fulfill contract specifications and deadlines.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED, along with 1+ year(s) of experience as a Wind Technician/Wind Mechanic, or completion of a Wind Certificate Program/Associate’s Degree in Energy, or 2 years of electrical work experience.

• Successful completion of a Technical Knowledge Assessment.

• Basic proficiency in computer usage.

• A valid driver's license that must be maintained.

• Capability to lift repetitive weights of up to 50 lbs.

• Ability to ascend towers up to 300 feet on a daily basis.

• Must adhere to specified manufacturer weight restrictions not exceeding 300 lbs., including necessary gear.

• Willingness and ability to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry environments.

• Skill in prioritizing tasks based on contract obligations.

• Initiative and ability to work independently without direct supervision.

• Flexibility to accommodate rotating shifts and on-call duties as per site requirements.

• Availability for occasional overnight work as needed by hub operations.

• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics discipline is preferred.

• Technical Certification in Wind Energy or in the Electrical/Electronic field is preferred.

• Prior experience with wind turbines is advantageous.

• Experience in electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic fields is preferred.

• Familiarity with hydraulic power tools is a plus.

• Experience with heavy machinery for facility upkeep and knowledge of crane and rigging standards is beneficial.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Successful completion of a drug screening, where applicable, is required for employment.
