This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nebraska.
• The WELDING INSPECTOR is tasked with overseeing and assessing suppliers to guarantee that all equipment delivered meets the company’s quality benchmarks, regulatory standards, and performance criteria.
• This position requires travel for conducting onsite inspections, reviewing documentation, performing functional tests, and engaging in continuous improvement initiatives that uphold product integrity and ensure supplier accountability.
• Manage, assess, and resolve supplier corrective actions.
• Prepare and finalize audit reports with accompanying photographs, and relay audit findings to both the cross-functional team and suppliers promptly.
• Confirm that base materials and consumable welding materials align with specifications and that the welding filler materials utilized meet the requirements for each specific base material or combination thereof.
• Ensure that the welding equipment intended for use is suitable for the designated welding procedure and possesses the capability to fulfill the relevant requirements.
• Validate that the welding procedures are specified, qualified, and that the actual welding conducted adheres to the applicable procedures.
• Document and maintain inspection test data accurately.
• Review notifications of changes from suppliers and assess their impact on internal systems.
• Keep thorough audit reports and supplier files up to date.
• Collaborate with suppliers to guarantee product compliance with specifications and conduct supplier audits as necessary.
• Develop measurement methodologies for product release at supplier locations.
• Provide support for external manufacturing operations.
• Partner with production staff and supervisors to identify and track quality metrics, sampling plans, and address issues related to non-conforming products.
• Assist in investigations for corrective and preventive actions to determine the root causes of problems.
• Examine incoming supplies and products from vendors for defects and to ensure quality standards are met.
• Maintain comprehensive reports on supplier quality, detailing defect rates and areas leading to flaws.
• Availability to work over 50 hours per week.
• High School Diploma or GED Certification.
• At least 2 years of experience as a Welding Inspector or 5 years of welding experience.
• Capability to identify suitable welding materials, equipment, and procedures to fulfill scope requirements.
• Proficient in software applications including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.
• Proven ability to provide visionary strategic leadership, with experience in executing a strategic plan, evaluating progress, and making necessary adjustments.
• Basic knowledge of electricity and instrumentation.
• Ability to read, understand, and adhere to company procedures and manufacturers' guidelines.
• Ability to interpret work instructions and/or drawings to validate production and/or assembly information.
• Capable of working independently or as part of a team.
• Self-motivated to complete tasks.
• Strong dedication to personal and team safety.
• Exhibit strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Communicate effectively and engage with all levels of the team, customers, and external contacts via phone, written communication, email, and in person.
• Willingness to learn company-specific applications.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
