This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement transmission and interconnection strategies for renewable energy and energy storage initiatives.

• Identify and assess transmission opportunities that enhance project economics and facilitate market access.

• Lead transmission due diligence for greenfield projects, acquisitions, and joint ventures.

• Evaluate congestion, curtailment risks, deliverability constraints, and impacts on grid reliability.

• Provide executive recommendations regarding project feasibility, siting, and associated development risks.

• Supervise utility, ISO, and RTO interconnection activities from application submission to commercial operation.

• Manage feasibility studies, system impact assessments, facility evaluations, and re-evaluation of interconnection processes.

• Address interconnection challenges, network upgrade requirements, and cost allocation issues.

• Foster relationships with utilities, transmission providers, ISOs, RTOs, and regulatory bodies.

• Lead technical negotiations for interconnection agreements and transmission service arrangements.

• Mentor and guide professionals involved in transmission, interconnection, and grid integration.

• Supervise power flow analysis, system modeling, generator interconnection studies, and transmission evaluations.

• Review engineering deliverables, equipment specifications, and technical documentation.

• Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external consultants for effective project execution.

• Support performance engineering initiatives for utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects.

• Stay informed about developments from FERC, NERC, regional transmission organizations, and state regulatory agencies.

• Advise the company on reforms related to transmission planning and interconnection policies.

• Represent Hanwha Renewables in engagements with utilities, regulators, industry organizations, and market operators.

• Support public policy and advocacy efforts that influence transmission expansion and integration of renewables.

• Collaborate with Development, Finance, Origination, EPC, and Asset Management teams.

• Assist in project valuation, financial modeling, and risk assessment activities.

• Facilitate project transitions from development to construction and operational phases.

• Contribute to investment committee materials and executive decision-making processes.

• Provide technical insights for M&A evaluations, acquisitions, and strategic transactions.

• Manage transmission planning consultants, engineering firms, and technical service providers.

• Oversee consultant scopes, budgets, timelines, and the quality of deliverables.

• Review recommendations and studies conducted by third-party entities.

• Enhance transmission and interconnection processes, standards, and best practices.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.

• A minimum of 12+ years of experience in transmission planning, interconnection, utility-scale power generation, or renewable energy development.

• At least 7+ years of leadership experience managing technical, engineering, or development teams.

• Extensive experience with major ISOs and RTOs, including CAISO, PJM, ERCOT, MISO, SPP, NYISO, or ISO-NE.

• Strong knowledge of transmission planning, generation interconnection, and wholesale power markets.

• Familiarity with FERC, NERC, and transmission regulatory frameworks.

• Experience supporting utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, wind, or other generation projects.

• Capability to manage multiple complex projects concurrently.

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Experience with energy storage interconnection and grid integration.

• Understanding of production cost modeling, power flow studies, and transmission planning tools.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.

• A Master's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Energy Systems, or a related discipline is preferred.

• Salary range of $270,000 - $300,000.

• Travel requirements of up to 30%.
