This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Collaborate directly with the CEO on organizational strategy, enhancing the effectiveness of the executive team, identifying leadership gaps, and refining company structure.
• Contribute to the transformation of Backstory into an AI-driven organization, focusing on the implications of AI for roles, workflows, talent strategy, and the design of go-to-market teams.
• Drive the evolution of the HRBP function to become a fundamental strategic partner across the entire business.
• Cultivate strong relationships with executives and managers within Product, Engineering, GTM, and Operations teams.
• Facilitate the formation and integration of the executive team, which includes seasoned leaders, recent hires, and future additions.
• Spearhead organizational design initiatives related to company growth, scalability, accountability, and operational efficiency.
• Review and enhance Backstory’s total rewards philosophy, encompassing compensation, equity, benefits, and recognition programs.
• Ensure that compensation and rewards programs are competitive, consistent internally, transparent, and aligned with company objectives.
• Develop leadership training and manager effectiveness programs that grow alongside the organization.
• Assist leadership teams in navigating organizational change, growth, and shifting business priorities.
• Collaborate with Talent leadership on long-term workforce planning and talent strategy.
• Play a key role in shaping and fortifying company culture within a fully distributed global environment, including both the US and Poland.
• Streamline processes that may hinder execution due to complexity, while reinforcing areas that require structure.
• Act as a trusted coach and advisor to executives, managers, and employees.
• Over 10 years of progressive leadership experience in People management within venture-backed or high-growth tech companies.
• Proven experience functioning as a senior HR or People leader during phases of organizational growth, transformation, or strategic evolution.
• Strong background in organizational design, with the capability to link team structure, accountability, and business results.
• Extensive HRBP experience supporting executive leaders and go-to-market organizations.
• Excellent executive coaching and stakeholder management skills.
• Expertise in designing or refining compensation and total rewards frameworks.
• Strong business acumen with a clear understanding of how People strategy aligns with company performance.
• Experience working in distributed and global organizations.
• Ability to integrate strategic thinking with operational execution.
• Exceptional communication skills and a strong executive presence.
• A genuine interest in AI and its effects on organizational design, workforce strategy, and go-to-market evolution.
