Director, People Operations – International

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Execute the international people strategy in complete alignment with the company’s objectives, mission, vision, and values.

• Lead and manage all HR operations across the United Kingdom, Switzerland (including daily operations), Spain, and Latin America, collaborating closely with local People Ops and Administration teams as well as external partners.

• Act as the main HR contact for new country and regional expansions as the organization expands globally, working alongside Legal and Finance to assess entry strategies for new markets.

• Establish and maintain relationships with local employment counsel in all active regions.

• Directly supervise the international People Operations team through mentoring, coaching, and continuous feedback to promote professional development and ensure effective operations across all regions.

• Manage the operations of the Switzerland office in collaboration with the local Administrative/Office Manager, ensuring that the Zurich/Geneva workspace functions effectively and meets Swiss workplace standards.

• Collaborate with hiring managers to define roles, source candidates, and refine interview processes across international regions.

• Ensure a smooth onboarding process and integration experience for all international team members, including those from mergers and acquisitions.

• Oversee international payroll operations in cooperation with local payroll providers, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with local tax and statutory requirements across all regions.

• Work with the Senior Director of People Operations and Finance to develop and maintain competitive, equitable compensation frameworks across all international markets.

• Supervise local benefits administration, ensuring that offerings are competitive and compliant with regional norms and legal standards.


⛳️ Requirements

• 6-8 years of experience in People Operations or Human Resources with increasing leadership responsibilities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Proven experience managing HR functions across multiple countries and legal jurisdictions — international experience is essential for this position.

• Direct experience with at least two of the following markets: United Kingdom, Switzerland, Spain, or Latin America.

• Due to the extensive Swiss operational responsibilities of this role, experience in Switzerland is highly preferred.

• Working knowledge of multi-country employment law, GDPR, and international compliance obligations.

• Experience navigating works council or employee representative body processes in the UK or EU; familiarity with Swiss employment structures is a significant advantage.

• Experience with HRIS platforms and multi-country payroll integrations (e.g., BizNeo, BambooHR, and Rippling).

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to operate effectively across diverse cultures and time zones.

• Strong preference for candidates who are bilingual and/or fluent in Spanish; proficiency in French or German is advantageous given the focus on the Swiss market.

• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.

• High emotional intelligence with the capacity to lead with empathy and cultivate a culture of trust within a distributed organization.

• Skilled at managing change initiatives in a complex, multi-jurisdictional environment.

• Proven ability to collaborate with and influence senior leaders to tackle complex organizational challenges.

• Visionary mindset with the ability to foresee future challenges and create long-term, scalable HR strategies.
