This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Directly oversee the contractor data analyst and future analysts as the team expands.
• Establish clear expectations, provide consistent feedback, and create development pathways for data team members.
• Recruit and onboard analysts as the function evolves, defining the necessary skills and standards for the team.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and clinical leadership to ensure the data team aligns with business priorities.
• Manage the timeline and delivery of the Mode-to-QuickSight migration in conjunction with the BI Engineer responsible for the technical layer.
• Lead the Mode audit: document existing assets, evaluate what is actively utilized and trusted, and guide rationalization decisions with stakeholders.
• Supervise the development of the five-domain dashboard from requirements gathering to delivery, ensuring dashboards are accurate, adopted, and maintained.
• Promote consistency in reporting: ensure every dashboard and report reflects unified metric definitions across teams.
• Oversee the data definitions process: facilitate cross-functional sessions to establish and document agreed definitions for core metrics.
• Convert business inquiries into reporting requirements that the BI Engineer and analysts can act upon.
• Act as the liaison between business stakeholders seeking answers and the data team that constructs the infrastructure to provide those answers.
• Maintain a dynamic data dictionary, ensuring definitions are accessible, versioned, and upheld in reporting.
• Conduct or supervise ad hoc analyses to address pressing business questions when the analyst team is at capacity.
• Review and validate the work produced by analysts before it reaches stakeholders, upholding a high standard for accuracy and clarity.
• Collaborate with the BI Engineer on data model design decisions impacting reporting quality and consistency.
• 6+ years of experience in data, analytics, or business intelligence, with a minimum of 2 years in a management or leadership role.
• Proficient SQL skills: capable of writing and reviewing queries, understanding data model design, and validating report logic independently.
• Demonstrated experience leading a BI migration or platform transition (Mode, Tableau, Looker, or similar) to a new environment.
• Proven track record of facilitating cross-functional alignment on data definitions — adept at managing complex conversations and achieving consensus among teams.
• Experience in managing analysts: setting expectations, providing feedback, and fostering professional growth.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills — able to translate business questions into data requirements and data outcomes into business insights.
• Adaptability to a startup environment where processes are still developing and priorities may change.
• Familiarity with Amazon QuickSight or a strong understanding of the AWS data ecosystem is a significant advantage.
• Experience in healthcare or regulated data environments is a plus.
• Knowledge of dbt (data build tool) and dimensional modeling concepts is a desirable asset.
• Experience with clinical data, outcomes reporting, or payor-facing analytics is a valuable addition.
• Background in establishing a data function from an early stage — you've recruited the initial analysts and defined the foundational processes.
