VP of Agency Underwriting – East Coast

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Capability to underwrite both conventional and government loans (FHA, VA).

• Manage and report on underwriter bonuses.

• Offer guidance and solutions to the underwriting team and branches for intricate underwriting situations and escalations.

• Support special projects and training as assigned by underwriting management.

• Engage with branches concerning escalations and elevated scenarios.

• Conduct second level reviews as directed by senior underwriting management.

• Collaborate with the underwriting team to uphold standard service level agreements.

• Oversee the underwriting pipeline to guarantee productivity and compliance with established SLAs.

• Provide mentoring and coaching to underwriting personnel as identified or necessary by senior management.

• Apply problem-solving skills, judgment, knowledge, and experience to effectively address loan-level issues.

• Manage departmental reports.

• Lead a team comprising approximately five to ten members.

• Communicate efficiently with operations and sales staff to ensure a high level of customer service through phone and email.

• Execute other related tasks as assigned by management.

⛳️ Requirements

• Direct Endorsement status from HUD and/or SAR authority from VA, with USDA experience preferred.

• Familiarity with FHA, VA, and Conventional loan guidelines is preferred.

• Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.

• Over 5 years of Mortgage Underwriting Experience (FHA, VA, USDA, Conventional) with knowledge of agency guidelines is preferred.

• More than 3 years of Underwriting management experience is preferred.

• Working knowledge of ATR/QM requirements.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Experience with Encompass LOS is a plus.

• Awareness of compliance and disclosure requirements.
