Underwriting Manager – Real Estate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee, mentor, and coach Underwriters in both technical and professional competencies.

• Supervise underwriting operations while providing support to a team of Underwriters.

• Monitor and report on portfolio performance and execute strategic pricing and growth initiatives.

• Administer and ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines, rating rules, and insurance regulations.

• Collaborate with Program Managers to enhance and expand targeted programs.

• Partner with Sales Executives and Program Managers to facilitate seamless communication and alignment.

• Develop and sustain effective relationships with both internal and external clients.

• Create, coordinate, and engage in underwriting training sessions.

• Cultivate an environment that promotes continuous improvement.

• Address root cause issues and provide resolution pathways.

• Suggest and implement changes to enhance workflow, productivity, growth, profitability, and quality.

• Monitor, manage, and report on Service Level Agreements to key stakeholders.

• Participate in and ensure the quality control process.

• Gather and analyze market intelligence and trends.

• Underwrite as necessary; evaluate risk selection, pricing, and coverage in accordance with underwriting guidelines.

• Some travel may be required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.

• Over 7 years of experience in commercial insurance underwriting.

• At least 3 years of direct supervision and/or management experience.

• Advanced technical underwriting knowledge with a comprehensive understanding of insurance practices.

• Proficient in data analytics to assess product profitability, rate achievement, and Service Level Agreements.

• High-energy, proactive self-starter with a strong sense of urgency.

• Ability to establish and achieve goals by gaining buy-in from management, peers, and associates.

• Interpersonal skills essential for achieving objectives and interacting effectively.

• High level of confidence, integrity, energy, and enthusiasm.

• Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.

• Effective analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Highly detail-oriented.

• Excellent organizational skills, including the capacity to manage multiple responsibilities at once.

• Professional insurance designation(s) is preferred.

• Insurance license according to state regulations is preferred.
