This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Formulate and implement a detailed government affairs strategy that aligns with G.E.H.A.’s mission, business goals, and corporate strategy.
• Track and evaluate legislative, regulatory, and political changes that impact G.E.H.A., federal healthcare programs, and associated business interests.
• Provide counsel to executive leadership on policy risks, opportunities, and developments concerning stakeholders.
• Represent G.E.H.A. in front of federal policymakers, regulators, trade associations, and external stakeholders.
• Spearhead advocacy efforts that shape legislation, regulations, and public policy.
• Offer strategic leadership and oversight for the government affairs function and team.
• Oversee and coordinate external government affairs consultants, advisors, public relations partners, and communication tasks.
• Create work plans, priorities, deliverables, reporting structures, accountability measures, and performance metrics for external partners.
• Collaborate with legal and compliance teams on advocacy, lobbying, public affairs, ethics, and disclosure obligations.
• Build and sustain relationships with OPM, Congress, congressional staff, administration officials, federal agencies, industry associations, coalitions, and policy forums.
• Facilitate executive engagement opportunities with policymakers and influencers.
• Act as a trusted advisor to the Chief Legal Officer, Executive Leadership Team, and senior executives.
• Prepare executive briefings, position papers, policy analyses, and stakeholder engagement plans.
• Manage cross-functional government affairs initiatives involving Legal, Communications, Business Development, and Operations.
• Support initiatives related to federal contracting, healthcare policy, and regulatory compliance.
• Report directly to the Executive Vice President, Corporate Services & Chief Legal Officer.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Government, Law, Healthcare Administration, or a related discipline is required.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in government affairs, federal advocacy, public policy, congressional relations, or a related area.
• Proven experience in developing and executing effective federal government relations strategies.
• Experience in managing external lobbying, consulting, and public affairs firms.
• Strong knowledge of federal healthcare policy, Congress, federal agencies, and the regulatory landscape.
• Experience leading teams and influencing senior executives.
• Exceptional strategic thinking abilities and political acumen.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
• Strong skills in relationship-building and stakeholder management.
• Ability to analyze intricate legislative and regulatory issues and convert them into actionable business insights.
• Demonstrated leadership presence and capacity for executive-level influence.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Must provide non-cellular high-speed internet service for a home office, with a minimum of 30 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
• Latency response time must be less than 80 ms.
• Hotspots, satellite, and wireless internet services are not permitted.
• A dedicated workspace free from ongoing interruptions to safeguard member PHI/HIPAA information is essential.
• Preference for candidates located in the Washington, D.C. area.
• Must be willing to travel regularly to congressional offices, federal agencies, industry events, and company offices in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
