VP – Core Curriculum Solutions

Posted Jul 29

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the strategy and development process for the Core Curriculum.

• Revamp DE's core curriculum product development workflow, transitioning from a writer-focused waterfall model to a modular, AI-enhanced production pipeline that facilitates quicker delivery, easier localization, scalable solutions, and upholds high editorial standards.

• Establish and take ownership of the curriculum architecture that supports DE's K-12 core offerings in Science and Social Studies, ensuring coherence, alignment with standards, and pedagogical integrity at scale.

• Set and achieve the instructional vision for the curriculum that enhances student engagement and improves outcomes.

• Lead the AI-Enabled Curriculum Production.

• Create high-quality, adaptable digital curriculum that balances content coverage with customer requirements and the realities of contemporary classrooms, proposing innovative instructional solutions that are easy to implement.

• Propel the incorporation of generative AI into all stages of curriculum development: ideation, drafting, standards tagging, differentiation, localization, and quality assurance.

• Collaborate with DE's engineering and data teams to develop or acquire AI tools that significantly lower cost-per-asset and time-to-publish without sacrificing quality.

• Define DE's human-in-the-loop model, determining where AI can enhance processes and where expert human judgment is essential.

• Orchestrate a High-Performance Team and Vendor Ecosystem.

• Lead a cross-functional team of instructional designers, subject matter experts, product managers, engineers, and designers by establishing direction, priorities, and quality benchmarks for the collective efforts of the team.

• Transition DE's vendor model from transactional outsourcing to strategic co-production by identifying, qualifying, and managing a network of specialized content and instructional design partners.

• Develop governance frameworks, service level agreements (SLAs), and quality systems that enable DE to scale core content production through partners while maintaining editorial control.

• Continuously assess and onboard new vendor capabilities, including AI-native content studios, specialized SMEs, and offshore production teams, to ensure DE's cost structure remains competitive.

• Oversee vendor performance, ensuring adherence to delivery timelines and quality of outputs.

• Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration.

• Act as the core curriculum authority within DE's integrated product teams, serving as a genuine thought partner to product management, engineering, and design rather than merely a curriculum supplier.

• Interpret district needs, market trends, and research findings into strategic content decisions, product roadmap contributions, and curriculum update priorities.

• Work alongside the Assessment and Research teams to bridge the gap between curriculum development and measurable learning outcomes.

• Represent DE's instructional vision externally, engaging with district partners, at conferences, and in the marketplace.
