Virology Community MSL / Regional Medical Scientific Associate Director – Southeast

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Identify, establish, and nurture collaborative professional relationships with leaders in the community and healthcare providers.

• Conduct peer-level scientific discussions and maintain a consistent Medical Affairs presence.

• Engage in proactive non-product discussions regarding scientific matters, prevention gaps, disparities, and barriers to uptake.

• Facilitate the exchange of scientific information and integrate scientific knowledge with actionable insights for research, development, and strategic initiatives.

• Communicate stakeholder opinions, insights, and feedback concerning data, clinical trends, and the landscape of HIV treatment and prevention to Medical Affairs headquarters teams.

• Represent R&D at scientific meetings and congresses, contributing to debriefs, insight discussions, and post-congress reports.

• Develop and implement territory plans that align with the global Virology strategy.

• Support data generation activities, including the Investigator Study Program.

• Identify potential investigators for phase II-IV clinical development programs.

• Provide scientific support for R&D-sponsored trials.

• Maintain thorough knowledge of the assigned disease and therapeutic areas through ongoing educational efforts.

• Adhere to company policies and relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• Doctorate degree or advanced practice professional qualification (PhD, PharmD, NP/PA, etc.) relevant to Virology and the position.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare setting.

• At least 3 years of clinical and/or research experience in Virology/HIV or a related therapeutic area.

• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, networking, and presentation abilities.

• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time overnight and reside within the coverage region.

• Profound therapeutic competency and awareness of trends and new developments in Virology.

• Capability to network and collaborate with external scientific leaders and healthcare providers.

• Ability to consolidate and comprehend complex data sets, plan and/or execute data analyses, summarize or synthesize data, and interpret results objectively.

• Knowledge of national and society treatment guidelines, clinical research processes, FDA regulations, OIG, HIPAA, and pertinent ethical guidelines, laws, and regulations.

• Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to work effectively in a constantly changing environment.

• Awareness of unmet needs and implementation barriers affecting priority populations in community-based and non-medical contexts.

• Prior experience in the coverage region and established relationships with HIV community stakeholders, particularly in HIV prevention.

• Proven effective leadership abilities.

• Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

• A valid driving license is required.
