📋 Description

• Establish the long-term hardware product strategy and roadmap for EVgo’s fast charging network.

• Convert company objectives, market demands, customer insights, regulatory obligations, and financial goals into product priorities.

• Develop business cases that encompass customer value, costs, lifecycle economics, competitive edge, and anticipated business impact.

• Define success metrics and decision-making criteria for roadmap priorities and investment trade-offs.

• Oversee the complete hardware product lifecycle from conception and requirements through development, launch, monitoring, enhancement, and retirement.

• Own product requirements that reflect customer needs, business objectives, field insights, operations, regulations, and stakeholder feedback.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Design, and Operations on hardware, firmware, compliance, serviceability, and reliability requirements.

• Ensure that products comply with standards for safety, reliability, uptime, customer experience, manufacturability, and total cost of ownership.

• Serve as the senior decision-maker for hardware product inquiries and drive alignment among teams.

• Communicate updates, risks, decisions, and requests to senior leadership and cross-functional partners.

• Monitor trends in EV charging hardware, infrastructure, firmware, interoperability, reliability, regulations, and competitive landscape.

• Integrate insights from EV drivers, site hosts, fleets, partners, operations, and field services into product decisions.

• Define customer journeys, user profiles, benchmarking methods, and customer experience requirements.

• Establish priorities, operational rhythms, and standards for product excellence within Hardware Product Management.

• Lead the Hardware Product Management team, including product managers and other staff in hardware product management.

• Build and refine the structure, roles, and operational model of the hardware product organization.

• Set team objectives and performance expectations while conducting performance and development discussions.

• Recruit, hire, and nurture product management talent.

• Identify growth opportunities and create development pathways for team members.

• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 18 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 15 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 10 years of experience; or equivalent experience.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, Product Management, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.

• Experience in EV charging, renewable energy, automotive, grid infrastructure, power electronics, industrial equipment, or networked hardware products.

• Familiarity with product development processes, stage-gate governance, validation testing, interoperability testing, compliance certifications, field reliability programs, and product launch readiness.

• Knowledge of charger hardware, site infrastructure, OCPP, embedded firmware, cellular connectivity, payment systems, HMI, plug-and-charge, interoperability, or serviceability considerations.

• Experience collaborating with suppliers, contract manufacturers, engineering partners, standards organizations, regulators, or external technology partners.

• Proven track record in building or scaling product teams, operational models, requirements practices, and executive reporting systems.

• Equivalent technical education or training in a related field is accepted in lieu of a formal degree.

• Demonstrated capability to define product strategy, create multi-year roadmaps, build business cases, and deliver complex products with measurable business impact.

• Strong technical fluency across hardware, firmware, embedded systems, connectivity, manufacturing, validation, reliability, or compliance areas.

• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence senior stakeholders, resolve intricate trade-offs, and drive alignment in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent analytical, financial, written, verbal, and executive presentation skills.

• Up to 20–30% travel may be necessary for customer, supplier, site, lab, partner, industry, and team meetings.
