
Vice President – Environmental Remediation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.
• Spearhead go-to-market initiatives for environmental remediation services across various sectors.
• Formulate and implement regional growth strategies; generate work through established connections; expand accounts; and promote cross-selling with related J.S. Held practices.
• Supervise the investigation, design, and execution of soil and groundwater remediation and mitigation programs (e.g., vapor, PCBs, PFAS, petroleum, hazardous materials).
• Oversee environmental due diligence (Phase I/II ESAs), liability assessments, cost-to-remediate models, and regulatory strategies (NJDEP programs, CERCLA, RCRA, Brownfields, LSRP coordination).
• Provide guidance to clients on environmental risk allocation, indemnities, reserves, and insurance interactions.
• Create defensible reports and expert narratives for negotiations, and offer expert witness support in disputes or litigation, including testimony when necessary.
• Proven capability to manage complex, multi-site remediation projects, ensuring alignment of scope, schedule, budget, and stakeholders.
• Recruit, mentor, and nurture talent; implement best practices for delivery, safety, and client service.
• Enhance utilization, margin, pipeline health, and forecasting; assist in pricing strategies and proposal development.
• Extensive experience in environmental consulting and remediation, encompassing liability assessment, insurance interactions, advisory roles, and expert witness participation.
• Experience in transactions, redevelopment, and litigation support is advantageous.
• Demonstrated success in originating and expanding business opportunities.
• Established client relationships with the capability to develop new markets.
• BS/MS in Environmental Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
• Strong expertise in remediation design and execution.
• Professional certifications such as NJ LSRP, PE, PG, or equivalent are preferred.
• Outstanding client-facing skills.
• Strong writing and presentation abilities, including the preparation of defensible reports, expert narratives, and litigation testimony.
• Proven capacity to manage complex, multi-site remediation projects, ensuring alignment of scope, schedule, budget, and stakeholders.
• Experience in team building and mentoring. Managing P&L drivers and scaling a practice is highly desirable.
