Vice President, Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Direct the technical vision, architecture, and implementation as Civis Analytics enhances its platform and introduces independent AI products.

• Report directly to the CEO while functioning as a player-coach, establishing the long-term technical strategy while remaining engaged with systems, decisions, and delivery processes.

• Ensure the integration between Civis's foundational data platform and its expanding AI product suite.

• Act as the technological representative within the senior leadership team, influencing decision-making and business strategy.

• Develop and oversee the technical roadmap for the Civis Platform and the forthcoming AI products.

• Lead architectural choices across platform, data, and AI systems.

• Guide the organization towards a product and development ecosystem that is centered around AI, including tools, workflows, and engineering methodologies.

• Manage and unify a cross-disciplinary team that includes product, engineering, data, and AI specialists.

• Investigate and assess innovative practices and enabling technologies; evaluate potential partnerships and acquisitions.

• Represent Civis's technology and data science in public forums through networking, advocacy, media relations, high-level sales discussions, and community involvement.

• Hands-on, practical experience with AI systems and their application in production settings.

• Extensive leadership experience in managing software, platform, or data engineering teams.

• Proven track record of owning and advancing technical roadmaps across various product lines or platforms.

• Experience in making architectural choices for complex, data-driven systems.

• Ability to engage with technical specifics to assist teams or resolve critical challenges.

• Demonstrated capability to recruit, develop, and lead high-performing technical teams.

• Clear and direct communication style with the ability to make and uphold tough technical decisions.

• Familiarity with the development and scaling of AI products in a production environment.

• Practical experience with contemporary cloud platforms and distributed systems.

• Authorization to work in the United States.

• Must currently reside in DC, Illinois, Maryland, New York, or Virginia.
