Vice President, Clinical Pharmacy – PBM

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver hands-on and client-facing clinical leadership for pharmacy benefit management programs.

• Supervise PBM clinical areas, encompassing rebate and clinical initiatives, step therapy, prior authorization, cost containment strategies, and participation in the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee.

• Oversee clinical staff and provide clinical supervision of therapeutic trends, utilization patterns, patient outcomes, and cost-management opportunities.

• Ensure alignment of programs with evidence-based medicine, FDA guidelines, URAC PBM Standards, and internal performance improvement requirements.

• Collaborate with clients to establish clinical objectives, offer recommendations, and present performance evaluations.

• Act as a subject matter expert during clinical discussions, client strategy sessions, and RFP/finalist activities.

• Work alongside client services, sales, and implementation teams to ensure effective delivery of clinical programs, client support, and sales presentations.

• Mentor clinical staff and contribute to their professional development and high-quality client deliverables.

• Keep track of emerging therapies, regulatory updates, and PBM trends to guide program design and innovation.

• Develop or refine clinical programs and services, including specialty pharmacy and utilization management initiatives.

• Lead industry thought leadership, publications, media engagements, conferences, and promotion of the organization’s clinical value proposition.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.

• At least eight years of pharmacy practice experience required, specifically in PBM, managed care, retail, or hospital environments.

• Preference for focused managed care experience.

• Proven experience in collaborating with clients and internal teams on clinical program design and execution.

• Strong clinical acumen with the ability to interpret and communicate healthcare trends effectively.

• Exceptional staff management, communication, presentation, and client relationship skills.

• Demonstrated time management and organizational skills to handle multiple priorities.

• Must be adaptable, collaborative, and solution-oriented.

• Willingness to travel as necessary.

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) is preferred.

• An MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.

• Familiarity with evidence-based medicine, FDA guidelines, and URAC PBM Standards.
