This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Oversee and guide the development and implementation of business strategies in Texas to achieve local business goals.
• Engage in business development initiatives related to technical Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), new technologies, and traffic operations projects, which include pre-marketing, proposal crafting, interviews, and contract negotiations.
• Offer leadership in business development across various areas such as traffic engineering or planning, transportation engineering or planning, signal operations, signal timing/coordination, ITS planning, ITS design, systems engineering, communications networks, system integration, connected and automated vehicles, and tolling.
• Establish and maintain a client base at the state, regional, and local levels in Texas by delivering outstanding traffic and transportation engineering and planning services.
• Act as Project Manager or Principal-in-Charge for significant multidisciplinary projects that encompass transportation planning, traffic engineering, signal operations/signal timing, or ITS design, implementation, and integration projects.
• Assist in the technical delivery of projects by providing expertise, guidance, and making informed recommendations to clients on complex and innovative transportation initiatives.
• Promote and communicate the capabilities of Iteris' consulting services through direct client interactions, conference presentations, and involvement in professional societies and organizations.
• Lead, mentor, and provide direction to senior business development, project management, and professional staff to foster their growth and development.
• Engage in professional organizations at various levels (local, State, and/or national) and stay abreast of the latest technical advancements and non-technical developments (laws, codes, regulatory compliance) in traffic and transportation methodologies and practices.
• Travel locally and statewide as necessary to develop and serve a client base by offering exceptional traffic and transportation engineering and planning services. Conduct business development tasks, including pre-marketing, proposal creation, interviews, and contract negotiations.
• Foster strategic thinking to expand business opportunities and enhance client retention rates.
• Regularly participate in coordination meetings and collaborate with other staff and division leaders.
• Identify client needs and formulate a plan and proposal to support business acquisition and regional growth.
• A Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) is required in a relevant field such as Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Desired qualifications include Professional Engineer (PE) or Traffic Engineer (TE) licensure, Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification, International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) certification, or certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).
• A minimum of twenty (20) years of demonstrated expertise in transportation planning, engineering, or the ITS industries.
• At least fifteen (15) years of experience in a leadership capacity, with a preference for experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
• A minimum of fifteen (15) years of business development experience within the Transportation Planning, ITS, or Traffic Engineering/Operations sectors.
• At least fifteen (15) years of experience working with and securing projects with state, regional, and/or local public transportation agencies in Texas.
• Proven success in client service within the public sector.
• Extensive experience collaborating with major public sector clients in Texas as a consultant.
• Strong leadership and communication skills necessary for interacting with internal teams and external clients and regulatory bodies.
• A comprehensive understanding of the state, regional, or local transportation industry and an awareness of trends that may influence the future of transportation, with preferred knowledge and experience in transportation engineering, ITS, and emerging technologies in Texas.
