This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.
• Offer legal counsel and strategic assistance to Centene’s Medicare Advantage, Part D, and Duals programs.
• Act as the primary legal advisor for Wellcare, Centene’s Medicare brand.
• Provide guidance to business and compliance teams on healthcare laws, regulations, and directives affecting Medicare.
• Conduct research, analysis, and interpretation of intricate healthcare regulatory standards related to Medicare operations, risk adjustment, MLR, quality, stars, and agent/broker issues.
• Assume greater responsibility for national and/or company-wide legal initiatives.
• Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, policies, procedures, and related documentation.
• Deliver practical legal advice for the implementation of new laws, regulations, business initiatives, policies, procedures, and operational workflows.
• Oversee provider disputes.
• Collaborate with product leaders, Compliance, Population Health, Network, Finance, and other business executives to identify risks, formulate practical solutions, and facilitate timely decision-making.
• Manage outside legal counsel as required to ensure efficient and high-quality legal services.
• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Adhere to all policies and standards.
• Juris Doctor (JD) is mandatory.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in health law is required.
• At least 2 years of experience in managing risk adjustment matters, including audits and complex vendor relationships is preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in Medicare Stars is preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience advising on Medicare bids and benefit structures is preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years of people leadership experience is preferred.
• Bar Admission and current good standing are required.
• Equivalent experience through achievements that demonstrate applicable knowledge, duties, scope, and skills reflective of this position may be considered.
