This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the primary School Certifying Official (SCO) for the institution and manage VA operations across all campuses.
• Lead, develop, and supervise a centralized team of VA Specialists/SCOs, focusing on training, performance management, and ensuring adherence to processing and compliance standards.
• Oversee the certification and administration of approved military and veteran education benefit programs, including the Post-9/11 GI Bill, Montgomery GI Bill, Veteran Readiness and Employment, Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance, Military Tuition Assistance, and MyCAA.
• Guarantee the timely and precise submission of enrollment certifications, adjustments, student status changes, program completions, and other necessary reporting tasks.
• Conduct regular audits of student enrollments, curriculum modifications, program adjustments, and VA records.
• Ensure compliance with VA regulations including the 85/15 rule, enrollment reporting, 35% exemption renewal, and necessary SCO training.
• Lead efforts in preparing for VA audits, compliance reviews, and Risk-Based Surveys.
• Develop and execute standardized processes and internal controls across all campuses.
• Serve as the primary point of contact with the State Approving Agency (SAA) and coordinate the approval of academic programs.
• Collaborate with Student Accounts and Financial Aid on tuition and fee reporting, billing, and VA benefit administration.
• Monitor and reconcile VA payments, debts, and overpayments.
• Provide training and regulatory guidance to VA staff, campus partners, and leadership.
• Ensure adherence to FERPA and institutional privacy guidelines.
• High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent on-the-job experience, is required.
• A Bachelor’s degree in business, education, public administration, or a related field is preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in a VA role within higher education.
• At least 2 years of leadership experience managing a team.
• Familiarity with VA Enrollment Manager or a similar VA enrollment certification system.
• Working knowledge of VA education benefit programs, including Chapters 30, 31, 33, 35, and 1606, Military Tuition Assistance, and MyCAA.
• Understanding of State Approving Agency requirements, VA compliance standards, and certification processes.
• Knowledge of FERPA and student data privacy regulations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
• Capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, compliance-oriented environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and discretion when dealing with confidential student information.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across departments and campuses.
• Willingness to travel for business and occasionally work outside of regular business hours.
• Must complete the required U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs initial SCO training within 30 days of hire.
