This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hungary.

📋 Description

• Gather, verify, and reconcile data to prepare and submit timely and precise periodic VAT returns, Intrastat declarations, and EC Sales Lists.

• Ensure accurate coding of all financial transactions in the ERP system to enable appropriate VAT treatment (e.g., correct tax codes for cross-border services, exports, and reverse charges).

• Conduct monthly reconciliations of VAT accounts in the General Ledger to confirm that the reported tax aligns with the financial records.

• Manage the timely payment of VAT liabilities to various tax authorities to prevent penalties and interest charges.

• Monitor local and international indirect tax changes and integrate them into internal processes.

• Offer guidance to Procurement, Accounts Payable, and Sales departments on the correct application of VAT for complex transactions, including imports/exports and multi-jurisdictional projects.

• Establish and document strong internal processes for indirect tax (SOX compliance), ensuring the accuracy of the tax determination engine within the ERP.

• Serve as the main point of contact for tax audits. Gather documentation, address inquiries from tax authorities, and implement necessary corrective actions.

• Collaborate with IT and Finance teams to troubleshoot and enhance the automated tax determination logic within ERP systems (e.g., SAP/Oracle/Vertex/Sabrix).

• Identify opportunities to automate manual data collection and reporting processes to boost efficiency and minimize human errors.

• Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for VAT processes to ensure uniformity across various business units or countries.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a finance-related field.

• Proficient in written and verbal English and at least one other language.

• Comprehensive understanding of VAT principles (e.g., Place of Supply rules, Reverse Charge Mechanism, Input VAT recovery).

• Knowledge of accounting principles.

• Strong analytical abilities.

• Excellent communication and influencing skills; ability to adapt easily to changes.
