Utility Permit Engineering Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada.

📋 Description

• Investigate permit requirements based on the type of job and the respective agency.

• Analyze property appraiser websites, county GIS, legal documents, plats, easements, and right-of-way measurements.

• Create and draft permit sketches in compliance with agency-specific standards.

• Collaborate with Design Engineers on both overhead and underground fiber and electric distribution projects.

• Develop CAD drawings that illustrate client projects, agency right-of-way limits, existing underground utilities, and distances from utilities to the work area.

• Engage with client Permit Coordinators to obtain agency approvals and coordinate necessary adjustments.

• Upload required documents to client servers and document repositories.

• Monitor and update permitting requirements.

• Participate in regular training sessions to enhance design skills.

• Foster a safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols, including tailboard meetings and vehicle safety inspections when necessary.

• Keep updated with changes in client guidelines.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma.

• 2-3 years of experience in coordinating with clients, permit authorities, and internal teams to ensure prompt approval of permit drawings.

• Understanding of Right of Way, Easements, road ownership, property boundaries, and associated legal concepts.

• Expertise in computer-aided drafting (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, or comparable programs.

• Familiarity with document management and submission processes, including the use of client servers and repositories.

• Strong organizational skills with the capability to track and handle multiple permitting requirements concurrently.

• Diligence and attention to detail in producing neat, clear, and accurate permit drawings.
