This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with utility companies throughout North America, engaging with Directors of Strategic Energy Resources, Directors of Demand Response, and Managing Directors of Customer Load Management, among others.
• Identify and pursue opportunities for Voltus to supply utilities with capacity via demand response and battery deployment, as well as through wholesale market participation to enhance the value of their existing demand response programs.
• Develop connections with key utility stakeholders to influence their perspectives on demand response. Address utility RFIs and RFPs, while continuously refining and enhancing Voltus's approach to these responses. Strategically collaborate with ecosystem partners to position Voltus as part of a comprehensive solution.
• Collaborate across functions including Partnerships, Energy Markets, Product Management, Engineering, Legal, Operations, and Marketing to present Voltus as a vital component of a successful solution for utility partners and oversee program execution. Manage the entire process from initial outreach to relationship development, contract negotiation, program initiation, and ongoing management.
• Participate in industry conferences and face-to-face meetings to establish connections and represent Voltus in the utility sector.
• Regularly share insights and progress within the organization to assist Voltus in refining its utility offerings and enhancing its competitive stance.
• 5 to 10 years of experience in business development, partnerships, or sales within the energy sector.
• Prior experience at a utility, DERM, VPP platform, or demand response organization is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of wholesale electricity markets, demand response initiatives, and utility procurement processes, including RFPs and RFIs.
• Demonstrated capability to manage lengthy, intricate sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders across large organizations.
• Ability to operate effectively in uncertain environments. This role requires an individual who can discern utility needs and determine how Voltus can best meet them, rather than someone who requires a fully outlined playbook from day one.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills and the capacity to work closely with internal teams to create proposals and programs.
• Experience with Google Suite, Salesforce, and Slack is preferred.
