This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Input spatial information into GIS by employing coordinate geometry, digitizing techniques, and geo-referencing of design plans, record surveys, and historical maps.
• Generate custom maps, exhibits, and sketches utilizing ArcGIS software.
• Conduct ArcGIS analyses and geoprocessing routines to produce spreadsheets, data tables, statistics, and program deliverables.
• Write, update, and maintain the data library along with feature codes for input during field data collection.
• Develop and sustain static geometric networks for utility systems while executing diagnostic maintenance routines.
• Assess GIS data for accuracy by adhering to established quality control procedures.
• Create and modify data from diverse sources, generating relevant attributes and metadata.
• Address data requests and inquiries from clients and stakeholders.
• Integrate record surveys into the GIS database through geo-referencing and linking drawings to utility features.
• Keep abreast of advancements in GIS functionality, database design, hardware, and software.
• Assist with construction inspections and underground utility locations as needed.
• Represent Kaukahi in client and project meetings when required.
• Offer direction, guidance, and mentorship to junior Utility GIS Analysts and field technicians.
• Execute other related tasks as assigned.
• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in GIS, geography, information systems management, or a closely related field with significant coursework in GIS; or equivalent academic credentials associated with GIS.
• A GIS certification can be utilized to establish academic equivalency.
• 3–5 years of experience in utilizing GIS technology within a multi-user geographic information system.
• Equivalent training and/or experience might substitute for certain minimum qualifications.
• Experience with utility distribution systems, utility locating and surveying, ground penetrating radar (GPR), Trimble Business Center, Trimble Access, and ArcGIS add-ons may be considered as substitutions.
• Must possess, or be able to obtain and maintain, a valid state driver's license upon receiving a job offer, along with an acceptable driving record.
• Understanding of Geographic Information Science principles and GIS technology.
• Proficient knowledge and use of GPS receivers for field data collection.
• Familiarity with GPS satellite constellation theory, signalization, field data collection computers, and post-processing techniques.
• Knowledge of data entry principles, digitizing, and geo-referencing map plans from aerial imagery.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Acquainted with project management principles and strong organizational skills.
• Moderate proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS (ArcMap) and/or ArcGIS Pro.
• Capability to integrate CAD data into ArcGIS Desktop.
• Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to operate scanners, printers, large-format plotters, and other office equipment.
• Competence in using personal computers and standard office software, including word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications.
• Capability to comprehend, read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to maintain consistent full-time attendance.
• Willingness to travel up to 100% for assigned project worksites.
• Physical ability to work both indoors and outdoors, frequently lifting 25–50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
• Capability to walk or stand for over six hours daily.
• Ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment and complete relevant medical evaluations or clearances.
