Underwriting Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and guide a team dedicated to delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality underwriting decisions.

• Provide hands-on coaching and manage team performance effectively.

• Enhance team operations by implementing clearer processes and continuous improvements.

• Collaborate with Processing and People Ops to facilitate a seamless workflow.

• Responsible for ensuring quality and meeting underwriting standards.

• Supervise performance management and conduct performance evaluations.

• Foster a positive team culture and actively engage employees.

• Train and onboard new team members.

• Oversee team projects and coordinate meetings.

• Analyze data to generate valuable insights for leadership.

• Manage and coach team members to achieve underwriting quality KPIs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in underwriting residential loans.

• Proven experience in leading a high-performing team.

• Demonstrated success in managing projects from conception to completion.

• Ability to draft effective policies and procedures.

• Skill in evaluating risk-based decisions made by your team, identifying patterns in judgment that require correction, and maintaining a consistent quality standard across all underwriters.

• Experience in navigating cross-functional team dynamics and ensuring consistency across related teams.

• Proven leadership abilities, including conducting constructive discussions, setting and achieving deadlines, proactively communicating challenges and changes within your department, and regularly updating all levels of management.

• Ability to make decisions based on data analysis.

• Experience working with HEIs is preferred.

• Willingness to engage in a fast-paced early-stage startup environment.
