Underwriting Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Conducts daily research and analysis to address inconsistencies in data and discrepancies found in underwriting applications and/or post-issue policies from various internal and external sources.

• Engages in communication with both external and internal parties involved in billing activities, as well as in application and policy administration processes through phone, email, and written correspondence.

• Processes and promptly addresses internal and external client requests, which includes verifying and understanding these requests, answering inquiries, and providing assistance through any communication channel.

• Escalates issues to the Management Team and Underwriting when necessary.

• Performs internal audits across various support functions, ensuring departmental quality by monitoring compliance with guidelines related to MIB, OFAC, and other necessary state and federal privacy regulations, in addition to adherence to departmental policies and legal regulations as assigned.

• Supports and oversees the EFAC processes, which includes managing failures, resolving client transmission errors, and escalating issues to the EFAC or external Vendor Development team when appropriate.

• Participates in and leads training, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and process efficiency initiatives relevant to the Support Services Team as suitable.

• Contributes to updates of the Support Services Manual.

• Collaborates with the Support Services and Underwriting management team on complex special projects that pertain to all aspects of ceded business, compiling data to facilitate research and resolve issues that require management intervention.

• Assists the Sr Analyst, Retro Analyst, and Manager with departmental workload and responsibilities, and acts as a backup to the Sr Analyst or Retro Analyst during their absence as appropriate.

• Responsibilities may include managing complex retention and jumbo notification checks to reduce RGA’s overexposure on individual risks and monitoring Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and treaty compliance within established guidelines associated with new business processing.

• Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

• Performs additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant work experience (minimum of 8 years).

• 2-5 years of experience in insurance, reinsurance, or financial services.

• Basic proficiency in Word, Excel, and SQL/Query.

• Must demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to change.

• Intermediate skills in oral and written communication as well as organization.

• Takes initiative and demonstrates accountability.

• Competent in comprehending and interpreting insurance and contract documents.

• Capable of multitasking and meeting tight deadlines.

• Basic goal-setting abilities.

• Intermediate skills in investigative, analytical, and problem-solving.

• Ability to share and impart knowledge effectively.
