
Trucking Mechanic, Expert Witness

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Perform forensic assessments of commercial vehicles, which include Class 7–8 trucks, tractor-trailers, braking systems, steering components, suspension systems, driveline components, tires, and fifth wheel/coupling systems.
• Investigate mechanical failures and identify root causes linked to inadequate maintenance, equipment malfunctions, repair quality, or component deterioration.
• Examine maintenance records, repair documents, inspection reports, and service histories to assess vehicle condition and maintenance practices.
• Evaluate adherence to FMCSA regulations, DOT inspection standards, OEM maintenance guidelines, and industry best practices.
• Generate clear, well-supported expert opinions and detailed reports based on technical knowledge and forensic analysis.
• Collaborate with commercial trucking professionals on cases and provide testimony during depositions or trials as necessary.
• Keep updated on commercial vehicle systems, diesel engine technology, braking systems, electronic diagnostics, and safety regulations.
• A minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience as a truck mechanic.
• Significant practical experience in maintaining and repairing Class 7–8 commercial trucks.
• Background in roles such as Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic, Shop Foreman, Service Manager, or similar positions.
• Strong knowledge of commercial truck mechanical systems, diagnostics, preventative maintenance, inspections, and repair procedures.
• Familiarity with FMCSA regulations, DOT inspections, and standards for commercial vehicle maintenance.
• Capability to analyze intricate mechanical issues and concisely present findings.
• Prior experience as an expert witness is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Flexible, case-based assignments.
• Support through peer review and access to a multidisciplinary team of experts.
• Assistance with professional report editing and peer review.
• Support for marketing and business development initiatives.
• Continuous coaching and training for depositions/testimonies.
