This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Idaho, +18 more states.
• Travel 100% to wind farms across North America on an 8/1 rotation.
• Guide and mentor fellow technicians in a team setting, ensuring proper composite blade repairs, including up to Category 5 complex or specialty repairs.
• Execute expert composite blade repairs uptower using platforms, occasionally on the ground, and potentially through rope access.
• Conduct wet lay-up of epoxy and polyester resin, vacuum infusion, and work with balsa and foam sandwich materials.
• May be tasked with performing structural repairs on blades.
• Complete comprehensive Daily Progress Reporting Documents and QA/QC reports, following established Quality Checkpoints.
• Conduct onsite inventory checks.
• Exhibit leadership qualities within the team.
• Support the site lead and project coordinator.
• Over 5 years of high-quality composite repair expertise, encompassing all types of blade repairs.
• Familiarity with epoxy and polyester resins, wet lay-up, and vacuum bagging techniques.
• Proficient in handling balsa and foam core materials.
• Understanding of fiberglass reinforcement and methods for structural repair.
• Competence in safely and effectively using powered hand tools.
• Good finger dexterity, including precise operation of hand and power tools.
• Comprehension of repair specifications, including wind speed, temperature, and humidity limitations.
• Capability to read and interpret intricate technical drawings and procedures.
• Proficient in IT, including email, internet use, and familiarity with iPads.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team, take guidance, and provide leadership when necessary.
• Experience in safely setting up and operating 360-degree and 2M basket platforms.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively, by both air and ground transportation, often at short notice, and to spend extended time away from home at project sites.
• Capability to drive or travel for up to 11 hours per day when required.
• Adaptability to changes in scope and work assignments.
• Ability to work safely in outdoor conditions, under extreme heat and cold.
• Physically fit to meet demanding job requirements, including climbing ladders more than 2 times daily up to 300 feet (90 meters), bending, crawling, stooping, and lifting up to 75 pounds.
• Capability to wear a respirator and use protective equipment safely.
• Good vision (corrective lenses acceptable) for detailed inspections, reading instructions, and safe equipment operation.
• Valid driver's license with a clean MVR report; must be 21 years or older to operate a company vehicle.
• A valid passport is an advantage.
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. or Canada (citizenship or legal work authorization required).
• Must successfully clear a criminal background check and maintain a drug-free status.
• The following certifications are optional and considered advantageous: GWO BST (Basic Safety Training) – fire awareness, working at heights, manual handling, first aid; GWO BTT (Basic Technical Training) – electrical, hydraulic, mechanical; IRATA or SPRAT rope access experience and certification is a plus; certificate must be current, and candidate must be physically capable of performing rope access work safely; OSHA 10 General Industry; SGRE Blade C or Blade D certificate; GE NAM Blade LOTO certificate.
