Transport Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Deliver expert technical support for transport networks in the role of Transport Network Operations Specialist (N1.5)

• Conduct intricate diagnostics, alarm correlation, and authorized remote recovery actions

• Facilitate communication between N1 operations and N2/N3 escalation teams

• Analyze and assess incidents escalated by N1 teams, confirming severity, scope, topology, and network impact

• Correlate alarms and events across various transport network layers to pinpoint primary alarms and root causes

• Review network performance metrics including Tx/Rx optical power, BER, Q-factor, interface and card status, and health of protection mechanisms

• Coordinate resolution efforts with N2/N3 engineers, Huawei and Nokia vendors, as well as field teams

• Provide technical mentorship to N1 technicians

• Create checklists and facilitate knowledge transfer

• Contribute to documentation, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) preparation, and continuous improvement initiatives

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with WDM/DWDM, SDH, and optical network technologies

• Familiarity with OTN and MPLS-TP is considered advantageous

• Proficiency in interpreting optical alarms, degradations, and protection mechanisms

• Experience with Huawei and Nokia equipment families and their associated management systems

• At least 3 years of experience in transport network support or operations

• Experience preferably within NOC/SNOC environments or Telefónica-aligned service models

• Excellent structured problem-solving abilities

• Capability to manage high-impact incidents and communicate effectively with clients and vendors

• Huawei or Nokia transmission/optical certifications are preferred

• Working proficiency in technical English is a plus
