This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Create and execute automated testing systems, protocols, and sequences for electrical and electronic components.
• Establish repeatable workflows for functional, performance, validation, and regression testing.
• Determine measurement strategies and testing conditions.
• Evaluate test methodologies for technical precision and thoroughness.
• Incorporate laboratory instruments, data acquisition devices, and hardware interfaces.
• Automate measurement processes utilizing instrument-control protocols.
• Set up and validate measurement configurations.
• Resolve issues related to instrumentation and hardware communication.
• Generate test scripts and automation workflows utilizing Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, C/C++, or comparable tools.
• Develop reusable automation frameworks for testing electrical and hardware systems.
• Streamline test execution, measurement collection, and result processing.
• Create data-analysis workflows to assess testing outcomes.
• Conduct functional, performance, validation, and regression testing.
• Assist with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing when applicable.
• Confirm hardware operation against specifications and technical requirements.
• Analyze testing results and pinpoint unusual hardware behavior.
• Diagnose issues with electrical hardware, instrumentation, test fixtures, and automation setups.
• Explore root causes of failures.
• Differentiate between hardware defects and test-system or measurement problems.
• Document observations and technical conclusions.
• Review and validate testing methodologies, technical strategies, and results.
• Evaluate test coverage and identify gaps, deficiencies, or unsupported conclusions.
• Assess testing outcomes against project specifications.
• Offer clear technical feedback on engineering methodologies.
• Practical experience as an Electrical Test Engineer, Test Automation Engineer, Hardware Test Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or a similar engineering role.
• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
• Background in developing or executing automated electrical testing systems.
• Extensive experience with laboratory instrumentation and measurement devices.
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, C/C++, or similar programming languages.
• Familiarity with test automation, data collection, and instrument-control protocols like SCPI, GPIB, USB, Ethernet, CAN, or RS-232/485.
• Capability to interpret electrical schematics, test specifications, and technical documentation.
• Strong analytical abilities and technical problem-solving skills.
• Experience with ATE, automated test benches, custom test fixtures, NI hardware, LabVIEW/TestStand, PXI/PXIe, or DAQ systems.
• Knowledge of HIL/SIL, automated regression testing, or Python-based test automation.
• Experience in testing power electronics, batteries, EV systems, motors, embedded systems, or other intricate electrical hardware.
• Familiarity with high-voltage or safety-critical systems is a plus.
• Work must be accomplished without utilizing any confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, or other third party.
• H1-B and STEM OPT support is not available for this engagement.
