This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Conduct comprehensive design work for overhead transmission lines, which includes structure spotting and profile development, plan and profile drawings, as well as conductor and hardware selection.
• Implement and review line designs utilizing industry-standard software tools (e.g., PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER).
• Carry out basic to intermediate calculations related to sag-tension analysis and compliance with clearance standards (NESC, GO 95, utility specifications).
• Collaborate with structural engineers regarding pole and tower loading, along with design inputs.
• Assist in routing studies, constructability assessments, and cost estimation processes.
• Create engineering packages, drawings, and material inventories.
• Engage with clients, survey teams, environmental teams, and various stakeholders.
• Offer guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Ensure compliance with project timelines, quality benchmarks, and safety protocols.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering.
• 3 to 7 years of experience in transmission line design.
• Required proficiency in PLS-CADD; familiarity with PLS-POLE and/or PLS-TOWER is preferred.
• Knowledge of NESC and relevant utility standards is essential.
• Strong grasp of principles and practices pertaining to overhead line design.
• EIT certification is mandatory; a PE license is preferred or must be in progress.
• Experience with major utilities (e.g., SCE, PG&E, SDG&E) is favorable.
• Background in LiDAR, survey data integration, and digital terrain modeling is advantageous.
• Understanding of the project lifecycle from routing through to construction support is beneficial.
