This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Collaborate closely with engineers specializing in component qualification and other engineering disciplines.
• Provide guidance and support to less experienced members of the project team.
• Engage in projects related to the development of new nuclear facilities as well as upgrades and modifications to existing nuclear power plants.
• Prepare and assess design calculations.
• Review vendor test and analysis qualification reports.
• Create and refine specifications.
• Update client design basis documents.
• Assist designers in the development of drawings.
• Conduct structural analysis and design for steel panels/cabinets, connections, equipment foundation loads, and supports, taking seismic effects into account.
• Execute primary containment penetration design and analysis for various design conditions, including fatigue considerations.
• Carry out seismic qualification activities, such as reviewing seismic test reports and preparing or reviewing seismic-loading analyses.
• Perform environmental qualification life assessments utilizing the Arrhenius method.
• Update and maintain qualification documentation.
• Lead engineers in implementing data, automation, AI, and agentic AI tools to enhance workflows, minimize rework, and deliver cost-efficient designs.
• Supervise automation and process improvement initiatives, ensuring that automated outcomes are verified.
• May require travel to client and vendor offices for design evaluations, as well as to plant sites for construction coordination and field verification.
• Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in engineering with a focus on Structural or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
• A minimum of ten years of experience in component qualification activities within the nuclear power plant sector.
• Proficient in structural mechanics analysis using Mathcad software.
• Knowledgeable in AISC, AISI, ASCE, ANSI, and ASTM design codes and standards.
• Familiar with Regulatory Guides, IEEE Standards, and EPRI Documents related to Seismic and Environmental Qualification.
• Experience in completing ASME Section III design reports and/or specifications.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must possess authorization to work in the U.S.; the employer does not provide sponsorship for work authorization.
• An MSCE degree is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis using SAP2000, ANSYS, STAAD, and/or STRUDL is preferred but not required.
• A PE license is preferred but not required.
• Willingness or capability to lead teams utilizing automation and AI tools.
• Ability to supervise engineers who are programming or scripting with Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel is preferred but not required.
• Additional qualifications in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields are valued but not required.
