Transmission Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Supervise the engineering design for transmission projects, including the interpretation, application, and documentation of drawings, calculations, and designs.

• Ensure that the designs and applications from the department adhere to relevant codes and authoritative standards.

• Assign engineering tasks and responsibilities within the Transmission Engineering department.

• Oversee design and verification processes across multiple teams.

• Facilitate the training and development of Transmission Engineer Team Leaders, Transmission Engineers, and Transmission Engineering Technicians.

• Maintain design standards and training protocols.

• Address conflicts between design teams and other departments.

• Respond to technical inquiries from construction managers, field staff, project managers, customers, and representatives.

• Travel occasionally to customer offices for project meetings and visit construction sites.

• Conduct bi-annual evaluations of subordinate employees.

• Manage employee PTO scheduling.

• Recruit, hire, and mentor new engineers.

• Provide feedback on organizational structure, employee performance, ongoing education, development, and disciplinary matters.

• Implement department discipline policies.

• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President of Engineering.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.

• A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.

• Prior experience in overhead and underground transmission design is essential, including grading, foundation design, PLS CADD design, plan and profile creation, general arrangements, structural designs, steel detailing, sag tension, and wire stringing.

• Previous supervisory experience is necessary.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Microstation, Civil 3D, MathCad, or PLS CADD is preferred.

• Capability to deliver quality work within deadlines with minimal supervision.

• Ability to engage professionally with employees and clients.

• Effectiveness as a department leader is required.

• Commitment to integrity and ethics in client interactions and communications.

• Regular updates to supervisors and teams regarding design issues, concerns, studies, or tests.

• Willingness to engage in ongoing education and training.

• Availability for overnight travel to active job sites.

• A clean driving record is required, as the use of company vehicles is necessary.
