Senior Engineering Manager

📋 Description

• Expand and cultivate a multidisciplinary Platform Team that encompasses DevOps, App Security, SRE, and FinOps.

• Define technical strategy and create an engineering roadmap that outlines priorities, dependencies, and trade-offs.

• Oversee management of technical debt, process health, dependency updates, and application enhancements.

• Provide production-ready platforms and tools that ensure reliability, observability, performance, and operational excellence.

• Enhance application security, data privacy, access control, and secure coding methodologies.

• Develop FinOps visibility tools to monitor cloud and infrastructure expenditures.

• Design long-term systems and architectures that prioritize scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability.

• Coach and empower emerging leaders while mentoring individual contributors.

• Clarify ambiguity and establish structure within specifications.

• Lead initiatives that span multiple teams and align them with overarching organizational objectives.

• Identify, document, and address platform vulnerabilities and operational risks.

• Direct incident response efforts, root cause analyses, knowledge sharing, and remediation processes.

• Integrate DevOps, App Security, SRE, and FinOps into a unified internal engineering system.

• Convey a unified Platform Team mission and narrative to peer teams.

• Utilize AI to highlight risks and gaps overlooked by manual reviews and assess team progress.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience as a professional software engineering manager.

• Proficient across infrastructure, systems, and application layers.

• Proven track record of delivering production systems utilizing a variety of languages, tools, and technology stacks.

• Experience in writing, maintaining, and enforcing infrastructure and deployment safety protocols.

• Strong collaborative skills with product, data science, and R&D teams.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and release engineering methodologies.

• Practical experience with AWS compute, storage, and network services.

• Expertise in Docker, Make, or similar build tools and environment scripting.

• Proficient in infrastructure-as-code such as Terraform across AWS, GCP, and Azure.

• Experience promoting secure coding practices, data privacy standards, and access control measures in production environments.

• Knowledge of vulnerability scanning, secrets management, and secure SDLC practices.

• Understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks including SOC 2 and NIST CSF.

• Extensive experience with cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, and production-grade software at scale.

• Direct experience with observability tools for logging, metrics, and tracing, such as Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus, or Grafana.

• Familiarity with incident management procedures, on-call rotations, escalations, and postmortems.

• Knowledge of cloud cost and billing platforms.

• Strong technical judgment in situations with incomplete information.

• Ability to articulate architectural decisions to non-technical leadership.

• Capability to lead technical execution across multiple teams, estimate complex projects, devise mitigation plans, and deliver on milestones.
