This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Establish the technical direction for backend, frontend, data, and third-party systems, ensuring a balance between technical investments and product delivery.
• Clearly communicate the technical strategy to both the team and leadership.
• Assume comprehensive responsibility for complex systems that include billing, accounting, member eligibility, and enrollment.
• Create sustainable strategic roadmaps and foster cross-functional alignment.
• Recruit, mentor, retain, and develop engineers, engineering managers, and team leaders.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, data science, and operations teams to ensure program alignment and measure impact.
• Balance the execution of high-impact projects with swift software delivery.
• Promote ongoing improvements in codebases, architecture, and engineering processes.
• Develop insights into customer needs and influence product direction.
• Monitor projects to ensure successful completion and that the outcomes effectively reach users.
• Adhere to Virta’s security and privacy protocols when managing sensitive patient information.
• Over 5 years of experience in managing and providing technical guidance to engineering teams.
• A proven history of hiring, coaching, or developing engineering managers or team leaders.
• Extensive technical knowledge across backend, frontend, data, and integrations with third-party systems.
• Strong expertise in distributed services utilizing Python and/or Go.
• Experience in managing complex transactional systems in billing, financial accounting, membership eligibility, or customer enrollment.
• Demonstrated ability to build, mentor, and scale diverse, inclusive, and high-performing engineering teams.
• Capability to inspire teams and foster a strong sense of ownership.
• Ability to excel in a highly cross-functional environment and drive projects to successful completion.
• Experience collaborating with product partners to help define product vision for ambiguous projects.
• Experience in a HIPAA-compliant or similarly regulated setting is a plus.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must adhere to security and privacy protocols for sensitive patient information as governed by HIPAA.
