This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Offer technical leadership and supervision to meet project demands while managing a limited project workload.
• Provide technical oversight and direction to engineers within the office.
• Collaborate with the Director of Engineering to accomplish departmental objectives.
• Recruit, select, onboard, train, assign, schedule, mentor, counsel, and discipline staff.
• Communicate job expectations and evaluate employee performance and compensation actions.
• Contribute engineering insights and recommendations to strategic planning initiatives.
• Prepare and finalize action plans, implement operational standards, troubleshoot issues, conduct audits, and identify system enhancements.
• Offer oversight and procedural guidance to ensure adherence to proper engineering processes throughout projects.
• Build and sustain relationships with senior engineering leaders, managers, executives, and current or potential clients.
• Coordinate efforts with engineering offices where shared resources are utilized.
• Cross-train employees on multi-client standards.
• Collaborate with Business Development to assist with pipeline and workflow backlog management.
• Present technical solutions to key customers and address any technical concerns.
• Delegate, plan, prioritize, and forecast engineering requirements and training schedules.
• Participate in client meetings and job site visits to gather or provide design and engineering information.
• Offer technical assistance for quotes and estimation processes.
• Review and approve employee timesheets and expense reports.
• Ensure that project cost, quality, and schedule objectives are achieved.
• Conduct audits to confirm that design packages adhere to Qualus QA/QC protocols.
• Supervise internal training by identifying staff needs and coordinating training resources.
• Attend project kickoff meetings that cover scope, specifications, budgets, schedules, and safety requirements.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; ABET accreditation is preferred.
• A Master's degree in Engineering Management or an MBA is a plus.
• At least 5 years of management experience in the energy sector.
• Experience in substation physical design, protection and control design, and/or power systems studies.
• Professional Engineering license is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect with all levels of the organization.
• Familiarity with business and technical terminology.
• Strong analytical and computer skills.
• Robust decision-making abilities.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Proven capability to formulate and maintain financial plans.
• Strong sense of urgency, organization, and attention to detail while effectively prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
• Ability to work independently with concepts of probability, statistical inference, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Proficiency in applying fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to real-world scenarios.
• Ability to meet physical demands, including standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, talking, and hearing, as well as using fingers and hands to handle objects and tools up to 75% of the time.
• Frequent use of a computer and smartphone for communication.
• Ability to occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
