This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• In the role of a mid-level Transmission & Distribution Designer within the Oil & Gas group, you will take on engineering design tasks under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
• Your key responsibility will include supporting client projects and ensuring the delivery of high-quality results that meet deadlines and budget constraints.
• You will conduct detailed design work and create drawings for various electrical power and mechanical systems within industrial settings. This includes one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, conduit and cable sizing/routing, grounding design, general arrangement, equipment selection, and wiring diagrams.
• During the bidding phase of projects, you will provide conceptual and high-level designs with limited data or guidance.
• You will assist in the development of external T&D standards, including Distribution and Transmission Construction Standards.
• Various T&D designs will be performed using PLSCADD.
• You will prepare a range of documents and reports related to projects, including basis of designs, bill of materials, and specifications as necessary.
• Your role will involve reviewing the work of designers, drafters, and field service personnel to ensure general quality and accuracy as required.
• You will contribute to the development of CAD & PLSCADD standards with consideration for both engineering and design departments.
• The complexity of projects and tasks within your discipline will be reduced to enhance efficiency.
• You will play a significant role in the QA/QC process, taking initiative and responsibility for the quality of all projects and tasks.
• Assisting with client communication regarding specific assignments and meetings will also be part of your duties.
• Maintaining excellent relationships with clients will be essential.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
• An Associate degree in Drafting, Design, or a related field is preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in engineering drafting and design, or other applicable fields is required.
• The ability to interpret basic one-line/three-line diagrams and schematics is essential.
• A foundational working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems as they pertain to industrial environments is necessary.
• Proficiency in PLSCADD is mandatory.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
• Proficiency in AUD is expected.
• Familiarity with and experience using various codes and standards, such as NEC, NESC, RUS, etc., is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and other relevant software is needed.
• A commitment to maintaining high ethical and professional standards within the organization is important.
• Engagement in lifelong learning to stay informed about contemporary issues is encouraged.
• A willingness to attend conferences, training workshops, seminars, and relevant classes for professional advancement and to maintain work quality is necessary.
• A readiness to participate in safety training and adhere to safety regulations and guidelines is essential.
• Providing technical support and training for junior drafters and designers is part of the role.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
