This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct a thorough proofread of 100% of every assigned transcript through a complete sight-read prior to delivery.
• Execute a line-by-line audit while listening to source recordings to ensure accuracy.
• Validate transcripts against the current TETP Transcriptionist Style Guide and Pre-Submission Checklist.
• Review speaker labels, bracketed notations, procedural notation formatting, numeral rules, and Oral Decision non-verbatim conventions.
• Confirm document properties, necessary bookmarks, and template adherence against the DOJ Case Hearing Template.
• Provide transcripts with clear and specific corrective feedback when standards are not achieved.
• Reassess corrected transcripts before granting final approval.
• Report recurring individual transcriber quality issues to the Project Manager.
• Elevate ambiguous or unresolved style or policy inquiries through the Project Manager.
• Maintain weekly turnaround discipline to comply with the Wednesday DOJ upload deadline.
• Operate exclusively within the authorized Azure Virtual Desktop environment.
• Conduct reviews using approved playback software and Microsoft Word within the sanctioned security boundary.
• Achieve 100% proofreading and full-audit performance standards.
• Consistently implement typing, editing, and formatting corrections in accordance with QASP requirements.
• Utilize the latest versions of the style guide and checklist in a traceable manner.
• AAERT certification or at least one year of experience transcribing or proofreading digital audio recordings from multi-channel courtroom or other fast-paced, multi-party legal proceedings.
• Proven ability to utilize transcription/audio-review equipment and software with multi-speaker, overlapping audio.
• Consistent, demonstrated accuracy in applying detailed style and formatting guidelines.
• Comfortable adhering to a living, version-controlled style guide.
• Capable of managing multiple assigned cases, meeting weekly deadlines, and keeping organized records.
• Provide direct, professional, and constructive corrective feedback to transcribers.
• Required to obtain and maintain Public Trust-level security clearance.
• Subject to DOJ personnel security screening and mandatory contract security training before gaining production access.
• Prior direct experience with DOJ immigration court transcription or similar federal court transcription programs is preferred.
• Familiarity with verbatim and non-verbatim transcription standards is preferred.
• Must operate within the authorized Azure Virtual Desktop environment.
• No federal case data may be transferred to, stored on, or accessed from personal devices.
• Installation of unapproved software, including third-party steno/shorthand tools, is strictly prohibited.
• Compensation is calculated based on a per-page rate that varies by turnaround tier.
• Assignments with faster turnaround times offer a higher per-page rate.
• Routine Audio File Transcription QA: $0.50 per page.
• Priority I Audio File Transcription QA: $0.59 per page.
• Priority II Audio File Transcription QA: $0.64 per page.
• Premium Audio File Transcription QA: $0.68 per page.
• Same Day Audio File Transcription QA: $0.80 per page.
• Standard AVD tooling (VIQ Player, Microsoft 365, approved browsers) is provided.
• Experienced reviewers typically earn between $22 and $35 per hour at standard tiers, depending on reading speed and case complexity.
