This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Construct and operate comprehensive performance models for integrated data center thermal systems utilizing tools such as CFD and other simulation software.
• Create and implement simulation models to evaluate the thermal, fluid, and electrical performance of integrated data center systems.
• Work closely with lead engineers to establish simulation requirements, influence system-level reference design strategies, and validate model precision through testing and real-world performance data.
• Utilize continuous improvement methodologies to refine modeling processes and results.
• Assess system performance under various operating conditions and failure scenarios.
• Assist in developing customer-specific reference designs on platforms like Autodesk Forma by supplying performance simulation data.
• Collaborate with engineering leads to verify design choices and uncover optimization opportunities.
• Support the creation of system selection and configuration tools grounded in performance modeling.
• Develop models that specifically address key customer KPIs such as PUE, WUE, and carbon emissions reduction, showcasing measurable performance enhancements that contribute to Trane's sustainability objectives.
• Offer coaching, mentorship, and technical direction to junior engineers and cross-functional team members, promoting a culture of knowledge sharing.
• Represent the company in industry standards organizations such as ASHRAE to shape the future of data center design.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering.
• Proficiency in modeling and simulation software (e.g., CFD, Ansys) for thermal analysis.
• Strong programming capabilities in languages such as Python or MATLAB for data analysis and automation.
• Solid foundation in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer.
• Experience in modeling intricate, multi-component systems.
• Ability to adapt across various engineering disciplines and projects.
• Strong aptitude for collaboration with cross-functional teams and external partners.
